I saw this type of echeveria while visiting in Paris, and was so saddened by the fact that I could not buy it and take it home with me. Seven months later I found this specimen in an Oregon garden center and had to buy it.

First seen in Paris, but not to be mine:

Isn't this that keep us hooked to this hobby? This is what makes it all worth wild. To find and own a plant (s) that we just couldn't have to suddenly have it fall into our laps. No matter how down you are, this has got to bring you up. Hurray! Hurray!

Bev, that's beautiful. I saw this one at a home depot and stared at it for a while before walking away. I figured I already had a fuzzy doris taylor so I did not need another fuzzy. Well, your pictures make me wish I had bought it. Very nice!

Thank you Tarev. It is all about waiting. I had to wait to find them, wait to get them, and now waiting for them to grow. I guess the never ending process is what keeps us interested Shrug!

Does anyone know how echeverias might do in Houston's high humidity? I had just started to get really interested in succulents in Austin, when we needed to move. I brought a few with me and they seem to be doing well. I have a covered front and back porch. By placing them towards the edges, they get some sun and are protected from the rain, so I can control the amount of water they get. I don't have any echeverias, but would like to try some.

I say go for it Sall! It is so freaking hot in Texas no matter where you are that humidity actually helps in my opinion. The only time of concern would be dormant winter months that you would have them indoors in a controlled environment anyways.

But.... on second thought in your region depending on your own micro climate where you are it might be possible to keep yours out all year unless dramatic drops of winter coolness below norm and you keep protected from to much winter water while dormant.

I have had to protect way too many of my hardies this year from the sun due to massive growth from abnormal rain in spring and then can no longer withhold itself when normal conditions arrived this summer meeting the extra growth needs. That has been a first for me, but so has 23 inches of rain in 28 days. It was more than that but that was when I stopped counting.

Get some! And then post pics of course! Whistling

I'm so excited! I don't have many Echeverias but this plant I got this past winter is forming a peduncle!

She is a beauty Tiffany! Lovey dubby You have done a great job at keeping the nice color. I darn near have to hide any of my blue stuff when people come over. They are the first plant everyone wants to touch. I love it when they start doing stuff. Some of mine are starting to make warts and I need to get some pics.
Stuff and warts are very highly respectable terms for the plant world.... right? Whistling

TYVM! That's in the ground, at the moment, until I see Jack Frost in the forecast. Mother Nature does such a better job than me, I let her most of the year!

Yes, it's fun to use such technical terms here, where people really get 'em!
