The sky is pretty gloomy and dark here but at least Erika decided to quit early. Rain, rain, go away.

Many, if not most, of my oncids bloomed in my absence. This morning I was busy cutting all those dead stems off. New growth is coming though and I may have a chance to see what these plants look like in flower. A few are still hanging in there or are just getting started like the Oncidesa Gower Ramsey shown here.

In that same home made basket I have several smaller tolumnias. Here are two:
Tolumnia Tequila Sunrise

and
Tolumnia Pink Panther

Oncidium Sharry Baby ‘Yellow Panda’
Thumb of 2015-08-31/Fred/252cc5

is also still blooming. This is a long term bloomer. My other Sharry Babies (Sweet fragrance etc) are in the shade house under all this rain. I don't even know their condition.

I don't know about Jacksonville, but for you folks in the Tampa area, you probably would just as soon get a little cool but stay dry.

We are rapidly losing our low humidity, and though we are probably still below 70% relative, it was perhaps closer to 30-40% a few days ago. 30% relative is about as low as I can remember our humidity getting, regardless of the season. We will be back into the mid-90's tomorrow and then for the rest of the week. Cement is supposed to be poured tomorrow for the sunroom (it will actually have to be pumped 200'), so we need to stay dry. That being said, I have been waiting on concrete for three weeks. I won't be holding my breath that they show up tomorrow. Sticking tongue out

We've had 5" over the past 3 days that they have attributed to remnants of Erica. The sun has peeped out today but every now and then the sky darkens and you know rain is nearby. A friend had a 30' tree lean over against her house. The ground was just so soggy it couldn't stand up anymore.

Cloudy but no rain yet. At 7:15 last night, we had a big thunderstorm go through. The heavy rain lasted about an hour. The same thing happened Saturday evening. Everything is just soaked here.

Don't know about 'remnants' but there's still a huge piece of Erika or someone sitting just west of Key West and throwing out rain bands. Nothing has reached us yet, but if it moves north at all, we'll get some impressive rain. It's really nice outside right now, with a breeze, partly cloudy and about 85deg. Very civilized for the last day of August. I've been doing more than my usual quota of weeding out there already. C'mon rain!!

At least I got to fertilize all the orchids without having the fert all washed down onto the patio. Some days the moss/algae on the patio gets lots of food . . .

It just started to rain here and it looks pretty ruff to the SE. I sure wish we could push this off to California.

Apparently there are several storms forming off, and one actually right over, the Cape Verde Islands right now. Not exactly a good thing for those of us in the SE.

Far to early to tell if or when any of these tropical disturbances will reach the US. I did see that the hurricane that formed just off Africa and hit the Cape Verde Islands was the first hurricane to form so quickly and the only hurricane to ever hit those Islands. Since this is historical, none of the climate experts knows what this hurricane will do.
