I've been to Powell Gardens just before their butterfly festival and it is a very nice garden worth visiting. Afraid my old car can no longer make road trips. The good news is that leaves more money for plants Thumbs up

How is everybody doing in getting there tropicals back in the garden? I still have a few Calla to go and some Caladium inside but most everything else is planted out. Lots of bare dirt and mostly itty bitty plants.

All planted most itty bitty or soil. Two weeks should be a tropical explosion in my garden if weather stays warm. No sign of mamouth EE but caladiums, callas, and all other EE are peaking Hurray!
Need to decide what to plant in my anniversary present. 12" high with a 15" opening.

Most of mine are coming along quite nice. I have been slow getting the cannas in the ground not all have been planted yet. The big Port adoras are planted and just starting to peek out and the caladiums are also just coming up. I was very surprised that the caladiums I started in the GH didn't emerge any quicker than the ones in pots outside. I planted Crotons in pots and a couple of small bananas. I have a new big Hardy Musa still in it's pot have to decide what to do with it. There is also a white Bird of Paradise and new Tropical Hibiscus among others. Will get some pictures to post as they bloom.

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Can't wait Holly l always love seeing your garden. My friend showed me two sets of caladiums one grown with and one without a heating mat. It was a huge difference. Surprised that your green house grown caladiums aren't farther along. Do you keep the temp pretty warm?

We had the temp set at 50. Heaters didn't have to go on often maybe a little bit at night. The GH was definitely warmer than outside but it was really late spring before I started them so some went into pots out side a week or two after I planted the ones in the GH. I expected them to be much bigger than the ones started later and set outside. There isn't much difference between the two of them. I think bottom heat would have been what they needed to get started.

I finally got my Pigs trough set up. Yes, we really did feed the pigs in this at one time. Hilarious!
Not sure if I posted pictures of this before, the trough was sand blasted and painted, with stones in the bottom to make a level surface for the chocolate terracotta pots. They sit in about 3 inches of water. There is a Blue Hawaii, Illustris, and a Black something (can't find the tag right now) in the middle.

Lovely display. I think the middle one may be Nigra, also called Metallica. You must not have mosquitoes!

Yes we do have mosquitoes and it is standing water so I use the mosquito dunks, Plus it gets refilled quite often and I over flow it. It has a few algae issues. I should take those stones out of the bottom and bleach them and give the trough a good scrubbing and refill it.
Thanks Allison I just had it sitting there empty when you were here last.

Picked up a small banana last month. It is called Truly Tiny and is only to grow about 2ft. We will see how it looks by the end of summer.
Here it is planted with Ornamental Sweet Potatoes and Verbena.
