that sure does have a lot of red dots, Mary Ann. Must be the southern sun giving it freckles.

It sure does, Bonnie -- I have difficulty with the notion that the environment causes the spots on an otherwise plain flower..............

I have to say that's about the "dirtiest" one I've seen, MaryAnn ! Is that one in a "part shade" area ?

Yes it is, Arlyn. I would say it's in a *mostly shade* area. It only gets morning sun. If that's what it needs to have the red markings, it's gonna stay right there!! Hilarious!

Well, I don't really know if that's what it NEEDS, but that seems to make them more " pronounced ". There are a few along the alley,(I call it "iris alley") behind a house across the street, that only get about 2 hours of sun (this time of year, in early spring, they get almost 1/2 day), and they don't get a lot of bloom, but they are always "speckled" more than mine. The "first" blooms are always more colored than the "later " ones, even in my "full sun" beds.
Sometime, in the winter when it's not fit to be outside in "iris country" (and the fish aren't biting on the gulf coast Sticking tongue out ) I'll have to tell you the story behind "iris Alley".

Zencat said:I did a search in the DB and found Lady Paramount. It has the older form you like and is a paler yellow. I don't know the person who has it but you could contact them as they sell it. Here's the link.

UPDATE:: The person who had TB Iris "Lady Paramount" does not have this iris available - it was lost to rot in his garden. So the search continues ...... Sad

I haven't put my new acquisitions in the database, so I don't know what they will come up trending as, but when planting yesterday, I had a lot of tall yellow rebloomers.

I noticed I like a lot of Monty Byers and George Sutton irises too.
Don't make fear based decisions.

Not a bright yellow, but yellow and white, which is one of my favorite combinations. 'Corsage'

I also love this re-blooming NOID that I got from a rose grower.. I ordered 'Spring Romance' from Bluebird Haven this year as a potential match.
Thumb of 2015-08-08/Henhouse/1880e4

Patrick, you mentioned liking some of the brownish tones... have you seen 'Prairie Sunset', 'Orloff'?

'Glen Ellen' is somewhere between yellow and brown.. and 'Gingersnap' is not as old as the others, but has the bonus of having a Root Beer scent.
