Although Daylily Week at ATP is history, I’d like to share with you my personal experiences at the 2015 AHS Region 1 annual meeting. As a newly minted hybridizer, this was my first attendance at a formal daylily meeting.

Larry, I read with interest your account of the meeting. I would be in seventh heaven and don't know if I could resist bidding since I am an auction fanatic.

The pictures of the garden are so beautiful. I especially loved the square planters in the 6th picture. Looks like you had a nice sunny day to enjoy the gardens! Thanks for the virtual tour Thank You!

I am still amazed that you were able to stay at the main table and got to ease-drop on some of these famous hybridizer's conversations! Now THAT would blow me away!

Great recap of your visit and the photos provide a visual of this interesting and fun adventure you had. I sure wish I had been there. I've never been (in real life) around other daylily growers and enthusiasts ever in my life. (Pretty sad, huh?) I'd be like a kid in a candy store enjoying such an adventure! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Maybe one day, gardeners here locally will start wanting to grow daylilies again and perhaps the local nurseries will carry rust resistant plants to encourage the use of daylilies in my county. Which could definitely spark a club, because we have a LOT of very wealthy people on the beachside that are gardeners. Maybe it will happen in my lifetime .... I can dream. Smiling Smiling Smiling

I've only been to one regional about 4 years ago, we had a blast! (Region 11)
I won a daylily and bought a couple in the auction.

Becky,
If you went to a regional you could meet all the famous Florida hybridizers! Big Grin
They are expensive to go to, especially when the auction comes around.
I've never gone to a summer one with garden tours though, I think if I go to that for a week I'll miss my peak bloom!
Where's the closest club around you?

Ashton - 2 hours away (if Orlando traffic is good). So a 4+ hour round trip to attend a meeting. Can't do that. Wished there was a club locally. (That would be awesome!) I don't see daylilies in anyone's gardens in my area. I do see them at one of the Publix stores. They have plain yellow ones growing in the median garden strip. I've been tempted to check them out and grab any pods, as these look rust resistant. (Or maybe they just haven't been exposed to rust yet.)

I get all my daylily gardener interactions from here on ATP. Which I know is not nearly as good as in person. Maybe some day ....
