This spring was my first foray into daffolism where I chose certain cultivars. I love the minis and pinks, but I found myself saying eh about the pinks because I had too many. I also like the collared daffs.
I'm looking forward to some whites and also large trumpeted yellows this time around. Hurray!

I stick to the Dutch Master, and I think I have Carlton too.
The exotic daffodils just do not perform all that well here.
I have tried both the yellow and white forms of Cheerfulness, and really liked them both.

I grow Dutch Master and Carlton too, both great workhorses in the garden and hard to beat. I've come to appreciate them more in recent years, and am looking forward to seeing what developments have arisen in yellow daffs. I'm downright daffy for daffs, LOL.

Scheepers offered a few that I've been wanting, especially happy to finally get Spellbinder. I grew it as a teen and loved the glowing whitening trumpet and the huge blooms. I'm seeing it offered less and less frequently as years pass, and don't want to miss it.

Been working on filling in the blue, yellow, white garden (I call it my sky garden), where most of these will go, and ordered some more little blue bulbs from Van Engelen too.

I actually love yellow daffs and never think they are "common". For years and years only yellow varieties were all I had in the garden.

Rita, around here there are naturalized Lent Lilies all over the place, which I'm sure is where the idea of the "common yellow daffodil" came from for me. Nowadays I've come to realize even those Lent Lilies are far from common as they're no longer in commercial propagation- now I see them as precious heirlooms.

@Cem9165

Thanks Annette. I tip my hat to you. Thumbs up

Working on trying to get the rectangular bed ready. Most, if not all, of them are shipping/arriving in early October.

I emailed about the Vibrant tulip mixture at Living Gardens and wanted to know if they were all darwin hybrids and if not, what percentage and what other tulip divisions were in the mix. They said emailed me back and said.....

"This mixture is 60% Darwin Hybrids along with Triumph (20%), Single Late and Fringed varieties."

I guess the remaining 20% makes up the single late and fringed varieties.

It states on their site (next to the colorful pic of tulips).....

"Add a splash of color to your garden landscape with this collection of 100 premium tulip bulbs in ten varieties. Vibrant pinks, reds, oranges and yellows combine to fill your garden with spring color after winter’s dullness."

When I asked about the size, since it didn't list it on their site, they emailed back and said...

"6 varieties are 12/14; the other 4 are 12+."

It was more ($46.50) than I wanted to pay for 100 tulips, but their photo kept drawing me in to get them.

Looking forward to seeing your pics, as well as, everyone else next spring.

I going to compare Colorblends darwin hybrid mix (Big Ups) with Scheepers darwin hybrid mix. I've never grown either, as well as, the tulip mix from Living Gardens.

We just bought our house a few years ago and I love Spring bulbs, so ..... Fall 2013 ... 2,500 bulbs (exactly) later, exhausted I said Oh My. Smiling Last year decided I didn't need to add any more. 200 daffs and 300 tulips - yep no more. Smiling I thought perhaps none this year but..... I created 3 new beds (I hate grass) nodding so I have started thinking what I need. :-)

We do have a real problem with animals, especially deer eating our Spring bulbs. Plays heck with my extravagent layouts, color matching, etc. Sighing!

Will likely get everything from Van Engelen who I have had good luck with for 30 years.

Back in those days when I made good money, it would be nothing for DW & I to send them an order for 2 or 3 thousand bubs. Still recall 2 days before Thanksgiving 1986, me pounding holes in the frozen ground with a metal rod and sledge hammer and DW following dropping bubs and bone meal in.

I love fond memories.

David, sounds like you're as much a bulb addict as many of us are- welcome to the club! Hope to see photos of your display in spring!

Marilyn, I'll be interested in seeing your comparison shots of the tulip mixtures. I think Colorblends introduced and fine tuned the art of putting coordinated mixtures together and other vendors are following suite.

I have a bunch of Pink Charm daffodils that need a home. I dug them from a bed where I want true pink instead of apricot pink (where I'm using white daffs now). I've got plenty of them in other spots, so these are up for grabs for postage. Treemail me if interested.

At our hospital there is a sign that says we have had no falls in the last _____ days. The nurses fill in whatever number is appropriate.

From reading the purchase lists I think there is going to be a lot of stunning combinations come spring Smiling

I noticed that the name and content of some of Colorblends mixtures are identical to what Fluwel sells in Europe so I thought it perhaps could be useful for some of you to compare photos of these to get a better idea of how they look, so I thought I'd post a link:

I've been to the Fluwel and it looks like the Colorblends mixtures and where they get them. Thanks for posting the link, so others can see, if they didn't know.

Oh I've got a crate full of these Pink Charm bulbs- there would be plenty to go around, LOL.

So in case I wasn't clear above, Pink Charm daffodil bulbs available to anyone for postage, and a bunch of soft yellow large cup noids too.
