So, anyhow ......
My house is cream with burgundy shudders and burgundy awnings ....

I would like to plant some wine/burgundy irises on the side of the house, but need to know
what complimentary color would look good with them . Any ideas ???

Ever since you mentioned liking reds and purples together, I've been playing with combos of those colors and getting more and more into them. Definitely will look smashing with your home colors! And kind of the direction I've been going in the transition area of my garden from an area of all purples and lavenders to an area where I've introduced historic reds like Indian Chief, Shah Jehan, etc. I'm using some mauve tones in the mix too.

Yes, I agree. My awnings and shudders are burgundy, my home is cream colored. The side Iris garden right now has "Wabash", "Helen Collingwood", "Frank Adams", "Solid Mahogany", "Ida Red"
and "Iris Florentina". I need some more Creams to put in there - any ideas ?

Good planning, Tom! I was just about to say that you have to go with the colors that bloom at the same time, but as you say, you could have an extended bloom group with the color you want to work with too.

If there is a particular color of iris that you really like do some research and plant the same color that have a bloom time that ranges from very early to very late. that way you will always have a favorite color in bloom.
