"Heliconia" ??? If I bought 100 tickets, I still wouldn't win. I have a green thumb for growing plants, but a black thumb for winning anything, anywhere!

There have actually been winners who bought 1 or just a few tickets, so don't think you can't win! It happens! And if you do win, go play the lotto the same day!

Oh! I shouldn't say that .... I did win a raffle at work one time. But it was only because I was the only person to use a ticket for that particular prize! There were numerous raffle prizes that day and I just happened to pick the one that no one else wanted!

I normally just buy 5 and almost always less than 10 tickets (*) . I won this April , it only takes one ticket to win It was my first win and I have played every raffle except one (was out of town).

You are one win ahead of me@Becky. I have never won a raffle before. The only win I remember was a Creative Writing Contest in HS a looooooong time ago. Yes, Put me up against my skills not my bad luck. btw I already have an acceptance speech written out. That Creative Writing DOES come in handy, you know?

Remember this, statistically the three who bought more than 100 tickets are probably going to place highly. But each person can only win once regardless of their number of tickets bought. There are 15 prizes. That means that once the first 3 are gone, there are still 12 prizes left and nobody else with more than 50 tickets.

The point is, those are good odds for everyone.

Ditto! I think many of us were hoping to win that beautiful painting by Sharon!! It would have looked so amazing with my decor!

I've posted a database picture or two and added a plant or two, but I'm a relatively new gardener compared to lots of people here with years (decades) of gardening experience!

You guys are trying to make me feel good. But I got in A in College Statistics. This would have to be a Personal Best if I were to win. All in fun, right? Yes, I worked hard for my acorns, even resorted to begging! I adore my Acorn Collection. I am not a fan of tossing them here and there on my frivolous fancies. Move over Winners! I think I am going to win this time!

Cheryl gets acorns for making me laugh and getting an A in statistics. I won't even tell you what I got in statistics but it was not good.

Remember folks, attending plant shows and botanical gardens is a great way to take photos of labeled plants you can add to the database. That's one way I earned hundreds of acorns this year. Plus, I had tons of fun doing it! Get out there and explore! But if you're at a plant show, maybe hide your wallet first.

I never thought of that. As long as it's your OWN photo, it doesn't matter if it's your own plant!

There are also plenty of pictures in the database that are taken from sites (with permission, of course).

That makes me nervous, personally.

Critter, what I like is that the plants are labeled so I know I'm adding it to the right entry in the database. And because some of the plants at botanical gardens are rare or uncommon, I was often the first one to add a photo which meant I got two acorns! And plant shows are just fun, even if you don't grow that kind of plant. I went to a Rose show on Mother's Day weekend and a Daylily show in the spring. I don't grow either plant, but I had fun and felt like I learned a lot.

Cheryl just bought two more tickets thanks to the generous ATP members who obviously think I should win. I do too, like every other contest I enter! I think one of those are the winning ticket. Really. I do! Trust me on this one. I just "bought" a ticket that really wants to be between the toes of one of Dave and Trish's kids.
