I would wait until the pineapple on the main plant is harvested (all yellow, smells wonderful) and then separate the biggest pups off the mother plant. Looks like you can plant that whole planter with new pineapples. They obviously like that location.

I'd also advise you to make a cage around the fruit so the critters don't get to it before you're ready to harvest. Two layers of chicken wire will keep most rats, squirrels and raccoons from gnawing on your pineapple. It's just too heartbreaking to grow a fruit for 2 years and have the animals get to enjoy it.

Please don't pick it 'green' either - you can buy them at the store that way. No use growing them at home if you're going to do that, the flavor of a fully ripe pineapple is nothing like a store-bought one because they're harvested too green so they can ship well.

I was thinking the same thing, that planter box is the pineapple's happy place. Good advice on the wire, my brother does that, I don't grow them anymore, not enough sun.

@pawtgraycat hope your pineapple 🍍 soon.

When I buy pineapple I let it ripen good. Then after peeling the pineapple, I will slice thinly (about half inch) lengthwise then just warm up at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Perfect desert after meal.

Or top with vanilla icecream.
