"Bad bridesmaid's dresses" Hilarious! That's funny. I like the falls to be up and alert, and wide. The moderns look vigorous
and not so "Hang-dog".

I also like the 'dog ears' and especially in a SDB. I have a yellow, Mister Roberts, and a purple, Violet Lass, that have the dog ear form and they are soooooo cute! There are a lot of older SDB's that have the older form but unfortunately I have limited space, time, energy, budget, etc. sigh

I think that is why I prefer the moderns too. I keep my historics because they were my grandmother's.

I did not realize until joining this site that iris existed in any form other than TB. They rock my boat!

The most irises here are Standard dwarf & miniature tall. Away we go with the smaller ones.

They are all good. There's irises that fit any and all taste out there. Its just partly trying to get them to grow in our area that we live. Some are temperamental.

There just some beautiful Iris flowers that just take your breath away, like a gorgeous David Austin rose, or a Star Gazer or Casa Blanca Lily in bloom. I have seen photo's of some Iris that
have knocked me over, their beauty was overwhelming, but more importantly their 'form' was perfect - standards and falls were perfect and the color was perfect. IMHO there are Iris 'out there' that are downright unattractive to look at for me. So I stick with those Iris that I really
find beautiful and hope that someday I may grow them in my garden. I always write down Names
of Iris I want badly - My 'Wish List' is growing every day. nodding

Patrick, I am the same way. My want list is growing everyday as I look at different iris sellers website. There are a few I would really like to add first, like Celtic lady, snow shoes and Gypsy Romance. I have Caviar wish list and top roman budget. Sticking tongue out Rolling on the floor laughing

I am really trying hard to not add many to my wish list. My list is sooooo long that I am going to go in and break it up into different degrees of 'want'. Then I will concentrate on getting the ones I want the most and try not to go nuts...... Unless of course I see one I don't have...... groan

Bonnie, That can be a long list of the ones we do not have considering how many different ones there is out there. We could need bigger gardens to hold them all and just think, more weeding. It is not a bad thing though.

I go in spurts of getting hooked on a certain color pattern. One year it is pinks, the next blues, burgundys and so on. This year I think they were all cream and purple combos with ruffles and a band at the bottom. Then you have to really separate them with other colors to make them stand out. Shrug!

It isn't to bad for me since I am only into "Historics" but every day I'm finding yet another Historic that I end up adding to my Wish List ....... and I have to remember that I have very limited space
and both Iris gardens are packed full with Iris rhizomes right now ... Sooooooo, the only way I can buy any of the rhizomes on my Wish List is if one of my current Iris rhizomes dies and has to be dug up and discarded. So, why am I putting myself thru this Crying I won't know until next Spring which rhizomes will grow and bloom and which won't, so I'm kinda being a bit premature in continuing to look at all these beautiful iris that I really want BAD Sticking tongue out This is such torture! But long after Iris bloom season, I'm still filling my days being online looking at Iris photo's and reading threads here on this Forum. I just have an Addiction for Iris! Thumbs up

When we were more active, a friend & I would go over catalogs (mainly for SDBs) & decided which plants each of us would buy. then we could see both plants. they are about 3/4 of an hour away. Now that both families are in their 80s we don't zip around like that any more.
