Melanie, so sorry about you getting your car stuck and really glad that it was close to home so your dad could rescue you! I think your photos are great distance shots! Your mystery bird appears to be a Limpkin to my eyes. I've been seeing them around here lately ... my first ever sightings of this bird and the main ingredient of their diet is the Apple Snails: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/g...
