We have a bed at the back of the house which is about 2 1/2 ft wide and 9ft long. It is bordered on the 2 long sides by our main patio and another concrete slab that a previous owner made for a hot tub (we use it for our grill and hose). Also concrete at the short end, sidewalk from patio to our detached garage. Have no clue why they didn't just enlarge the patio but this bed has been a very good thing for us. This year we have only 3 Salvias in it- Black and Blue closest to the house, Wendy's Wish in the middle, and Amistad at the far end. Needless to say it got quite crowded but oh it is so nice because the chairs sit close to it and the hummingbirds will come right up and drink as we sit there. We put some edging around it this year just to make it look a little nicer. The 2 pics are of the plants in this bed, one is Amistad and Wendy's Wish and the other Wendy's Wish and Black and Blue. I like the way they turned out in the late afternoon dappled sun. I think next year we will stick with only 2 in this bed (probably Black and Blue and Amostsd and give Wendy's Wish a place with room for it to fully spread and grow. Experience is a good teacher!!

You are right- Black and Blue and Amistad both spill over the borders in the sides. Unfortunately I cannot widen it because there is concrete or house all around it. But I do have other spots with more room for The big Salvias so... Am thinking this bed would be perfect for Agastaches because it has excellent drainage. Since there are so many Agastaches I want to add, that seems like a good solution. If I do that, then next year this will be my small Agatache bed.
