Terry - I disagree with you .... I think your Dan Tau x Cosmic Kaleidoscope seedling #12-346 seedling and blooms is beautiful! Looks like a very nice seedling!

I like it too Terry Thumbs up

That's what I plan on doing with this Frans Hal seedling, mainly use it as a bridge plant and see if I can get a pretty face on it.

I crossed 12-346 back to Cosmic Kaleidoscope. I also crossed it with Texas Kaleidoscope and Colorful Etchings. I have crosses of it with several other seedlings. It has been consistent to send up many blooming scapes and the flowers are larger than 6 inches. It is similar to some of Carpenter's intros over the years. I grow or have grown several of them and like them for parents.

Thumb of 2015-09-23/kidfishing/803abd

This for example, is a Georgia Pansy Face seedling. 12-346 is much better than Georgia Pansy Face in my garden. I have also crossed 12-346 with some of the bluest eyes I grow.
Thank you for the compliment on the seedling. I find myself being very particular when evaluating the seedlings. I want those who grow introductions from our gardens to be well pleased with the quality and performance of the plants. I can't really evaluate them for rust since we get cold enough that it will rarely over winter here.

this seedling ( Barbara Alsop cross) put up a tall scape in September, I was not too excited about it because most rebloomers don't open well in cold mornings here
Thumb of 2015-09-26/lechat1/7a7150

Then it opened perfectly as a double on cold 50 degrees morning
Thumb of 2015-09-26/lechat1/1cddc7

since then opening perfectly every day, today, end of September still many buds left. I think its a keeper :)

I crossed two or three siblings with Happy Returns---didn't label them very well but I still have hope, the sibs are very early, two generations from an early Spring species cross that may have some repeat bloom genes--I hope but only bloom once themselves--or not at all---still?? If it works??

To tell the truth I'm watching some crosses of a wild phlox and two paniculata as closely as the daylilies except the phlox may be a pain to germinate---first seeds a few years ago never started!

Wow, there are soooo many nice seedlings on this post.

Anna, I think your Barbara Alsop cross is a keeper too Thumbs up

And Terry and Ashton, these two of yours really struck a chord with me. I love the height and color of the first one and the second one is my overall favorite. Just awesome!

I crossed this Multiple Multiplication seedling with its sibling to see what I may get.

I also crossed both of them with both of these Emerald Starburst seedlings, which are siblings.

Ken, I am sure you will get some nice pattern seedlings from the first cross, it will be interesting to see if the patterns show up in the others. Your post is what I was interested in, when I started this thread, thanks for posting.

Mayo - You certainly did! Wow! It appears that you hit the jackpot with those seedlings! I like every one of them! Some very nice babies! Good luck with all those baby seedlings too! I can't wait to see everyone's seedling blooms next year or the year after! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

The nice thing is that I got the whole clumps for a fraction of the price of a named cultivar Thumbs up
And the hybridizer said that, if I want to, I can name and register them Whistling
I might just do that Hilarious!

I'll wait until next Fall and they have settled and flowered a season (or perhaps until the year after that), but I have already reserved an name with the AHS : Mayo's Bella Donna Lovey dubby
(did I mention that I'm not the patient type..? Rolling on the floor laughing )

It will be named in remembrance of my dog Bella, who died 2 years ago

Thumb of 2015-10-04/Mayo62/dec356

She was a real Diva: didn't want to get wet, hated to get dirty, wanted the best spot on the couch (mine Hilarious! ) and loved french cheese Lovey dubby
Her nickname was Bella Donna (beautiful lady) and she is sorely missed..
I'm thinking naming a DL after her would be a nice touch.

Perhaps one of these? We'll see Smiling

Mayo - I like your idea of naming THAT particular daylily after your beloved dog. I think the idea is great and the flower even looks a little like her coloring. Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up
