I'm trying to find the name of this Sedum:

It was in bloom on the 28th of Aug. of this year in a northern climate.

Oh, it would also help to have something in the photo for a size reference.

I didn't do too well with the photos. I have 2 plants so I've taken a pic of each with my fingers in the shots to show sizing. This plant doesn't stay nice after the end of Aug. when we have cooler nights - it's been about 6C (43F) so it looks pretty much dead and I would think unidentifiable.

While I was waiting for the above to download, I went into my garden photos and found a picture taken the 3rd of July 2015. It shows the rocks of the Rock Garden, the short Shasta Daisies, and a standard garden light. I was able to crop the photo to highlight this plant. It is the one at the bottom of the garden between the Shasta Daisies and the Dwarf Irise. Here is the photo:

I hope you can make something out of this one. Thanks, Lin

It almost looks like one of the Hylotelephium cauticola types. They are suppose to be hardy to zone 5.
The last photo is to blurry to ID from.

How long have you had it? Has it bloomed for you?

I don't remember getting it. I think a piece of it came with something else that died off leaving just this. I liked the look of it early in the season and left it. It's not much later in the season as you saw. I've had it about 5-6 years and only remember it blooming this year - my first pic above.

Well then it does appear to be a tough sedum for you.
Could it be this sedum?
Pink Mongolian Stonecrop (Hylotelephium ewersii)

This one leaves behind lots of dead looking tangled stems that look a lot like your.

I kept thinking it looked familiar, so I went out to my raised beds, that is when I saw my Hylotelephium ewersii, and thought it was probably a match to yours.

Lynn - thank-you. Since my heart troubles, I've had trouble remember the common names of my plants and had to start labelling them and make garden plans. I wonder if I'll ever know the proper names as you do - I admire that. With your weather I bet this plant stays nicer for a much longer season than we have here. If it wasn't so nice early on, the dried out look of it now would really deter me from keeping it, lol.

It is such a beautiful plant when it is happy. Might just need more water during your summer. Or do you get summer rains?

Lin I live in Seattle, maybe one zone lower than Lynn, and yes, due to the milder climate, we do have things growing all year long! Last year I had a clematis blooming in late December! Hurray!

yes, we get summer rain and usually a fair bit. We have sandy soil so it doesn't hold it well though. I've planted this at the bottom of a rock garden on a hill so that it gets any run-off as well.

Oh, wouldn't that be nice! Must be similar to the weather reported in lower British Columbia.
