I made sure I gave him a 5 star rating, It is one thing to send someone a nice pair of leaves but when I took it out of the pot the size of the bulb and roots were just as nice as the plant that was visible. It makes me confident that I will be able to keep it alive this winter.

Just tell him "this old thing? It's been in the back of the garden forever." Hilarious!

I have ordered a lot of plants from eBay over the years and also from etsy. Most have ended up being nice plants. Hirt's Garden is the seller I just received 2 etsy plants from this week. He also sells on eBay. Here is the Black Mystic Cryptanthus and the Laurentii bird's nest Sansevieria that he sent. Both were potted in 6" pots. I am not 100% sure the Sansevieria is correctly ID'ed.

This is an aloe that I received from royalagave on eBay a couple weeks ago. 100% positive feedback on 1202 sells. I will order from this seller again.

These airplants came from etsy seller CTSairplants. I am not sure if they sell on eBay or not. May do so under a different name. Living in NE, these are plants that are hard to find locally.

Those are nice Tillie's and are growing on what I consider to be the best plant mount material, cork.

Here is something I just did. There are eight different varieties on this large slab of cork. Some of the varieties are native to S. Florida and one of them is ONLY found in S. Florida. I think it is neat to have Tillandsia native to the US.

Looks great Ken. I don't have mine mounted yet. Just put them on the cork for the photos. Did you glue yours? When you soak them, do you soak cork and all? I have my plants soaking now and will mount them when dry.

I was in Puerto Rico 4 times a year for business and I would buy them and could never keep airplants alive. I thought maybe they were not a good place to get them. So when I was in San Francisco I purchased some really pretty ones. They died too. I do not purchase them anymore, Shrug!

Don't scare me. These are my first. How often did you spray yours and how often did you soak them?

Kept them in the bathroom. Sprayed them once a week. Could not spray them more than that because at the time my job was hopping on a plane to where ever Mon-Fri. Soak them once a month if I was home more than 2 days that month. They never lived more than 2 months in my house anyway.

Sorry you will need someone that knows how to grow them if you want growing to survival. I thought my bathroom would be the best place because my family take very hot showers and we had so much steam in that room.

I think my bathroom is too low light. I've read to spray 3 times a week and soak once or twice a week if growing in a house with central air. Will have to see if I can keep up with that. I've ordered 3more and also some glass orbs. Afraid they are another thing I could get addicted too. Guess I'll find out soon enough if it is a mistake.

All mine are mounted and I have always grown mine mounted. In my opinion, tillandsia need very bright light and during the spring/summer, all mine are outside, hanging under oak trees. They may get a few hours early morning sun but more likely, will get several hours of late afternoon sun. Since I grow lots of tropical plants and several hundred are orchids, my tillandsia get watered every time my orchids do. During the hot months (and they are outside), that may be daily. During the fall/winter months, they will either be in greenhouses of in my solarium. Again, they'll get watered when everything else does. That could be every other day or every few days. It just depends on the amount of light they are getting (cloudy/sunny) and the temperature. I do run several fans in all my greenhouses, so there is air movement 8-12 hrs. a day, helping to dry all my plants out between waterings.

Why don't you try draping some Spanish moss near your plants? This is a tillandsia after all and having some near the other tillandsia raises the humidity. Most of my Spanish moss stays outside year 'round (though I was told by "experts" that I couldn't grow Spanish moss here (gets too cold). Lots of it is draped over plants in baskets/mounted, and thus will be in the greenhouses over the cold months. If Spanish moss grows, your other air-plants will do well.

Thanks Ken, I may have to order some of the Spanish moss too. All my indoor plants are growing in my very small kitchen/dining area. There is a ceiling fan. I may add a humidifier for the winter since it gets dry inside.

Just stuck the tillies into holes on the cork board and hung it right above the kitchen sink. The window faces Southwest and is uncovered. Not a lot of sun here in zone 5 during the winter, so hope it's not too bright.
