Holy cow, Mary. How in the world do you get so many more hours of sunlight than we here in Mississippi? I won't see that number of day-light hours for at least 6-8 weeks (just a guess). Those additional day-light hours will be a big bonus when getting your plants outside, even if only during the day when it is warm enough. I need to up-pot my half-dozen new seedlings too, but just did not have the time before my surgery, and now............it'll have to wait a bit longer. When I up-pot mine, they will go from 4" pots into (nursery) gallon pots. That's quite a jump in size but that seems to work for me. I do make sure the potting media is extremely well-draining though and that the plants get plenty of very bright, indirect sunlight.

Ken - your Sunrise is currently at 6:49 AM, and sunset at 5.29 PM. I believe that translates into ten hours and forty minutes of daylight.

You are right, Hetty. It sure seems like the day is so much shorter than that. My perception is off-kilter, huh? Sighing!

Curious, I put my seedling into a clear plastic cup after removing from the seedling tray so I can see/monitor the roots. Anyone else do this as well?

@Bradfish83 I've only transplanted one into a similar sized cup. Just used what I had, which was red. Think I will up-pot the remainder into nursery pots as Hetty & Ken suggested. Don't know if clear would affect root growth or not. Your plants are looking good Hurray!

I have clear orchid pots but haven't used them for anything in several years. With adequate light and moisture, too much algae seemed to grow because of the light-translucency.

I'm hoping since these are growin inside that I won't have to worry about the algae. I'm going to put them into black 1 gal pots before they get put outside in the spring. My best grower is going nuts, seed planted on 24Nov and it's just growing like crazy. Like my others it's grown inside under LED lights. Can't wait to see what it is. It came from a "Purple Butterfly " according to the seller.

That one definitely is ready to bust out when put into a gallon pot.

Hurray! Hurray!
That's great David! My germination rate has only been about 40% so far for seeds purchased through Amazon. Just planted seeds from BB&B so hopefully that will change.

Hahaha Gigi. I am amazed the size of some of the stems. Several ~ 3/8ths inch and they are just throwing real leaves. Maybe some of mine got some Dr. Dawg magic dust. I think only like 3 or 4 have not germinated.
