I will show an older photo of John's MDB which opened today. It is darker when it first opens. I hope that he got a picture of the darker phase. It lightens to this shade.

I have about 10 crosses in one-gal pots. From last season's efforts.
All are doing well, but one cross has the most successes.
Is this a good time to separate them out (line them out?)
Or should I wait until later in the season? One of the pots has
7 vigorous seedlings. Three pots have just one each. (One has just emerged in the last week!)

Hi Jan, I am not an expert and I have only done this once. I removed my seedlings from their pot and into a garden bed about 13 months after the seeds were collected from the seed pod. The youngest seedling sent up it's first shoot about 5 and a half months prior. I took the following photo on that day. All of my seedlings settled in well.

The pot of Gracieuse x Gracieuse has sprouted after putting the whole pot back in the fridge for a month and taking it back out again. Hurray!

Which leads me to the question = what happens when you cross a cultivar with itself??

Can be good, or not. Depends which traits show up--It can double on good or bad traits.

The Gracieuse is in the neighbor's garden. They always give me their seeds at the end of the summer. I crossed their flowers. Big Grin

Got back from the road today and had a couple 17 month old seedlings blooming.
First one was a bee pod from Slovak Prince... Looks like Lent A. Williamson is the probable father.

The other one blooming was a cross of Sorbonne X Cheap Frills
