Not certain but I think these are both the same and should all be listed under P. clusifolia 'Tricolor'.

They're two different plants. Peperomia tricolor is an accepted species name, so we need that entry. P. clusiifolia is also an accepted name, and 'Tricolor' is one of the cultivars in that species. It's possible that some images in those entries might be in the wrong place, but we need both entries.

I just researched this myself and came to the same conclusion as Zuzu.

As far as the pics are concerned...I'm having a hell of time trying to find anyone that grows or sells P. tricolor, while P. clusiifolia 'Tricolor' is a fairly common house plant, so my best guess would put all of the pictures as likely being the 'Tricolor' cultivar of P. clusiifolia.

This is turning into a more complicated can of worms. We also have an entry for P. clusiifolia 'Jellie,' which some sites list as a "synonym" of P. clusiifolia 'Tricolor.' In addition, some of them spell it 'Jelie' or 'Jelly.'

sheesh....that is awfully similar to 'Tricolor', isn't it? If we can find year of introduction or info on who created the hybrids then perhaps we can figure this out.

Although, it appears from some further looking into it that many of these cultivars are not true cultivars, but selections from the species.

*Blush* Sorry ... didn't mean for it to cause a bunch of research work but I'm so thankful for you smart folks! My photos under P. clusiifolia 'Tricolor' were listed with that cultivar name so I'm certain mine are not the species and I wonder if any of those photos shown under the species are truly the species?

I submitted a proposal to delete my photo at the entry for cultivar 'Jellie'. If I remember correctly that plant had a label that read P. clusifolia Tricolor Jellie which makes me think that they are one and the same.

Is there a set of go-to resources that you go to, @Zuzu , and/or that we should all go to in order to get accurate information for putting in the ATP plant database? I know someone brought up the Plant List website: http://www.theplantlist.org/ (which has a variety of presumably-reliable websites linked to it.)

I also trust Missouri Botanical Garden: http://www.missouribotanicalga...

Are there some others that you know of that we could trust as reliable? I often come across company sites or hobbyists in my search for answers on particular plants, but there's always that concern of perpetuating incorrect information. It's especially hard, too, when so many plants are being moved to different genuses, etc. all of the time.

http://www.catalogueoflife.org... is one I use regularly ... it seems to always be current.

Lin's right. Genus and species listings are updated more frequently in the Catalogue of Life than in other databases. Cultivar names are more difficult to find, but I usually look for patents if they're applicable or for literature dating back to the year of the plant's introduction.
