in Zone 5B. Now obviously, I will not see seeds - sposed to be 33 tonight which ought to slow it down a wee bit. But I think it is awesome that one of my gaint Elephant Ears is actually blooming. My first year growing these monsters. nodding

If you have the ID on the plant I think you should put that photo in the plant database.

Sorry - NOID

It made it overnight - at my house I got down to 39. The local TV reported 33.

My Brug on the other hand - even with 2 Frost blankets got one stem parially zapped and 4 buds trashed. We will be back in mid 70s in 2 days and lows no lower than mid to upper 40s.

I went and looked at the various EE and think mine may be Colocasia esculenta 'Jack's Giant'. It matches the write up and the pictures of it most resemble mine and the label for the pack indicated it was from Costa Rica - but prob a lot are. Smiling

Not quite true. Big Grin I cut my EE down yesterday and the bloomer actually had seeds under the sheath. They appeared to me to be maybe 75 % mature. Obviously, they did not have a chance. I just feel really fortunate to have seen a bloom cause - believe it or not - I have never grown giant EE before. I have a Colocasia in a pot for two years and have wintered it over indoors. Gonna lift, divide and give it a bit of a rest.

I should have had my wife take a pic of me standing by mine. Duhhhhhh

I am fairly certain that is what mine is.

Thanks for the link.
