That 'steal of a deal' is why I bid on any of them, Leslie. Thought about using the BIN on my two, but I am not funded until next Tuesday--auction is more better right now.
I had money sitting in my Paypal account, so it worked well to just go ahead. 5 rhizomes on the sisters site would have cost me $75, so I just "sacrificed" $4 to the cause.
I just didn't realize the sisters did year end sales on EBay. But now I do!

Sounds too complicated for me to keep track of. I have never ever bought anything on eBay. There are some lovelies on there and to get several for the price of one is great. Good luck all!!
I have bought iris rhizomes on eBay, but find that auctions can get ridiculous. I have seen $4 rhizomes go for over $50 in May. The same with African violets. A 4" potted AV went for $52 plus shipping. An AV vendor had the same plant for $8. plus shipping.
Needless to say, I am getting many African violets ready for next summer. But, I usually sell houseplants as a Buy it Now.

This is my first time ever bidding on EBay. It's been a learning experience. thank you to everyone who has helped me figure out what I'm doing. I have done some "buy it now" on EBay in the past but that's it.

The only one I was interested in was 'Lunch in Madrid', but I couldn't, just couldn't add one more to the pile this year. I'll be begging for it come Spring though, I'm sure....

Jan Wax, I was looking at the buy it now option the other day for it when I saw it. Bonnie I added it a few days ago to my wish list when I saw it. I should have bought it so I could have 1 for each of us.
I bought my recent computer on an eBay auction. I waited until there were 6 seconds left and hit what I was willing to pay. The price went up another dollar and a bit before I won the bid. I have gotten great deals with the 6 second hit.
I do that too, Linnea. There's a word to describe that kind of bidding (which I cannot remember, of course) -- and it's considered unethical. I don't buy it -- auctions are every-man-for-himself -- deal with it!!!

Having worked nearly 10 years for an ebay seller with more than 200,000 feedbacks at my time of departure, and having bought and sold several hundred items through my own account, I agree with Mary Ann. It is an auction and part of the fun is swooping in at the last minute and grabbing the item you just.have.to.have. Except. On some auction sites, if you wait until the last minute or few seconds, additional time is automatically added which neutralizes the strategy. Just know the rules for each.
My bids on the two Iris I want are still holding good.
adding time is dumb. They would do that only because there is perception that more bids would come fast on the heels of the late entry; thus improving their bottom line. Bastards.
