Aah ! Nice!
My Amaryliss are older and in shabby condition (neglected), but I keep them and several geraniums.

I forgot that I picked up a basil plant a couple of months ago for the house and it is blooming, they always do poorly outside, nights are too cold. I give it a little shake and it release it's wonderful scent in the room. Smiling

Do you get the Amaryllis to bloom?

Not sure if Amaryliss will bloom.
One big old one probably will.
I went through my seed stash, and I am testing herb seeds
in trays under lights. Basil has sprouted in a few days even from older packets.
Old flower seeds get tossed out in the lane----some will sprout----then fill in gaps with wildflowers.

We might be 50 degrees next week! With weather like this, it reminds me of maple syrup time. Below freezing nights and 'warm' days. I need to get that plastic on my hoops! I could start kale inside and maybe plant it outside.

Also, this weather is helping my compost. I dug in it yesterday and it was steaming. One more benefit, is my hugel/lasagna beds will break down more quickly. Worms might be more active too to help this. They are blanketed by a nice blanket of shredded leaves.

sounds like you have all bases covered. The only benefit for me is that I planted garlic, some new peonies, and a few lilies in late Oct so this warm spell will allow them to grow some roots prior to next spring. I did have some shredded stuff to spread but composting was out of the picture this last fall. Or is it still fall???? Hilarious! Also planted some lettuce and broc seeds about the same time. So I guess they could germinate and grow a bit under the ground pending spring weather.
From -60 Alaska to +100 Virginia. Wahoo

I planted garlic too. I didn't think of that. It will be good for the roots to get established.

Just took a look to see what people were saying a year ago about November.
More than a little different.

Going through old, first year posts by me, to see how busy Northern Gardening used to be and who used to post there but does not now, or is gone from the site. Thinking Thank You!
