Corsican citron trees. I have 6-8 seedlings, anywhere from 8-14" tall. They grow approximately 2' in H and 1' in W each year.
The "Mother" Corsican citron tree is between 6' and 7' tall and 4 1/2' wide. I cut it back every spring and again in late summer to keep it a managable size. It is loaded with fruit (of several sizes) and is in flower. It blooms off and on all year, thus producing fruit all year as well. The fruit are a hefty 7x5" when mature.
The history of this citron is interesting. It predates our lemons, oranges, and other citrus fruit and was known to exist at least 3,000 years ago. The fruit is used in candied fruit recipes as well as in a religious ritual practiced by the Jewish faith, The Feast of Tabernacles. The citron is considered to be a Jewish symbol which is found on various Hebrew antiques and archaeological findings. Citrons used for Jewish ritual purposes cannot be grown by grafting branches.
If you have interest in these seedlings, they are priced at $10.00 plus shipping. Three or more seedlings are priced at $7.50 each. Contact me via T-Mail.
