Always Afternoon is pretty but a relatively short show in my yard. I think it's probably still too shady where I have it.

First bloom this year, June 27

Last bloom July 13

There were only 8 blooms altogether

I've had it 2+ years in a good location. It's increased 5x. Not a single bloom. It gets a ton of rust every year. If it doesn't bloom by June, I'm going get rid of it to make space. We'll see.

2022 update. This plant has not impressed me. It only had 8 blooms, I don't think it has increased much. The bloom went from June 28 to July 20. AA is right next to the very successful Just Plum Happy, which is a bigger better version with more flowers. Anyway, not very happy with the performance.

Here you can see Just Plum Happy behind it, which was a blooming machine

Always Afternoon has bloomed well for me; first photo is from 2018; may have been its second year in this bed.

Color from year to year seems to be reasonably consistent, though I have one photo from 2021, not posted, where the bloom is much more purple and I am not sure if that was due to the camera, or the bloom being more shaded. I have had no rust problem. Even when the deer have munched it to the ground, it has recovered quickly. I'm not sure what the bloom season has been, suspect it would be a lot longer without the deer.

2023 update…AA finally put on a few more fans this year, bringing the grand total to 3. I had a total of 6 blooms this summer. I'm sure it's the location, but it's just going to have to live with it. Maybe, next year, with more fans, there will be more action. I do like the flower. It was having a more purple year this summer.
