I have the same question for you Gabe as I have for myself... Where are all those Iris going to go??? (down to 167 to plant)

I loved the video too Gabe. I cant wait to see your blooms come spring. A tip on separating the ones you have planted in the soil when it comes time to spread out a few in new areas..... As the rhizome puts new growth on in spring make a loop out of colored string and lay it on the soil surrounding that one entire plant. If you have a name for that plant you can put it inside of the stringed area or attach it to the string. Later, after spring bloom has passed, you can remove all the growth within a string loop and know you have the entire iris.

That worked very well for me this year -- sometimes, once the Iris are done blooming, you have no clue where one begins and another ends. The lasso solved that problem! Thumbs up

Just a few more trees to go, ones I'll have to pay to get removed. It used to be dark and it's own dingy habitat of mosquitos, termites, ants, and wasp nest. Now there's sunshine throughout in most parts. The big tree partially shades the area during late sunset, so she's staying along with a few others.

I'll need to be organized, the lasso idea is a great tip!

My piles of pots are more spread out than yours, Gabe, so it doesn't look as intimidating as it really is.. I can't wait to see pictures of your Iris garden, and perhaps another video in the Spring. It's fun to watch the progress of a garden.

I know is sounds like a lot of work but it really is play. And we do love to play in the garden. It is fun to acquire new irises, fun to plan where to plant, fun to plant, fun to move them to permanent homes, fun to watch them bloom, fun to share them with others and fun to sit back and watch our gardens mature and evolve.

The word 'string' confused me. We use a colored tape in the same way.

I use the colored "marking ribbon", as well, Lucy. I used to use string....or some of Rita's left-over yarn.....but the birds would go crazy trying to steal it for nesting material. So , now we use the "tape" to mark the plants, and cut the yarn into short lengths , and scatter it for the birds.....everybody's happy Sticking tongue out
