I'm planning on using the effect extremely sparingly, and mostly for pages where I need to make a large effort to draw attention to an important piece of information.

I found that I automatically skip past anything that looks like text being thrust at me, not what I was looking for. Recently in the Beta Swap I caught myself skipping PAST the highlighted boxes to get to what I was looking for. Wrong!
In most websites, anything "thrust forward" that hard is always some form of advertising and something THEY want from ME, not anything that I would have read willingly.

this website, I remind myself that it's from DAVE, so he must have something IMPORTANT to say, also important to US, or he wouldn't be bolding it and boxing it and painting it red and now applying the electric shock tingle to our eyes.
