They can be trained to reverse direction. They will continue going up and down and back up until someone trims the leads. In the jungle they do this in trees. A few of my climbers. All Hoya will climb. You just have to let them endnote trellis them around in a circle. The obtusifolia in photo 2 is up at 12 -13 ft

Hortica, those Hoyas at the Portland Airport are so cool looking! Hoya australis is my favorite for fragrance.

Gina, your greenhouse must be amazing!

I have a hanging basket of Hoya/Eriostemma 'Ruthie' that I hung in a tree a couple of years ago; some of it reached the ground and trailed along the ground but other stems began climbing the metal "S" hook and headed up into the tree.

tigerpaws said: So once those hoyas hit the ceiling do they twine downward or are the tips chopped off? It does look like they reverse direction and come back down the pole. Very nice look.

I could not quite see clearly, but maybe a little of both.

A few Hoya plants sporting buds today.

H. wayetii 'Variegata' - this will be the first blooms for me with this plant; it has a few long, skinny peduncles and some are forming tiny buds:

Hoya macrophylla 'Variegata':

A bit out of focus but this is Hoya 'Rosita':

Hoya pottsii). One vine stem is climbing up and growing through the links of the chain. I found a few buds and blooms today:

The two pictures below were taken last night, using the camera flash. The screened pool enclosure had the most amazing fragrance from the Hoya australis!

My Hoyas have no blooms. I have a no ID one that seems stressed looking and my Hoya Curtisii is getting bald on the top. I might have to repot some.

If you can upload a photo, someone might be able to identify it for you.

I had a large Hoya curtisii about 18 years ago but it didn't do well at all under my care. I love the looks of the leaves on that one but it didn't survive very long and I haven't tried it again.

I can take a photo when I get home later today. The leaves used to be green and now they are reddish color. But I read that the red probably means stressed.

I also read that H. Curtisii can be finicky.

Yes, red leaves can be due to sun stress, or heat stress.

Does anyone know if dryness can possibly cause the leaves to be red? Even though my pool deck is screened and shaded by lots of trees, a few of my Hoyas leaves have lots of red coloration. It hasn't been overly hot yet but my plants have been extremely dry because we haven't had much rain in a long while ... and I've been lazy regarding watering regularly. *Blush*
