The Site UPDate Forum has disappeared altogether!

Glad I am learning my way around here and looking forward to a real life meet up in just over two weeks.

Welcome ecnalg! That's an interesting screen name!

Mariposa, the seed swap is loads of fun! nodding I just hope we get good driving weather.

I actually have some raking to do. Thumbs down My big old oak tree drops its leaves all through January and February and ends up making a matted mess.

Oh yes Mariposa it is great fun.
Hey Sally, I saw a pic of those falls you go visit some times, can't remember the name of the park right now. I was just wondering if they freeze and what they would look like this time of year. You know the one that had the music on the porch last time you were there? I think Ric and I need to visit there this spring.

Oh, Yes it is a mess again. I really need to work on getting my plants list over here. Maybe I will work on that this afternoon if I can get in there to get the info out that is.

Great Falls Park, Holly
The Maryland side has an old tavern as a visitors center, the towpath for easy strolling along the canal, and a boardwalk for an easy but longer walk over to the river. Probably won't be too crowded on MLK day holiday, not as much as summer anyway. National park, Golden Age pass, oh yeah!!
VA side is more a state park like with great view overlooking main falls close by parking, ample parking, and more rugged (not really rugged so much as just natural terrain) along the river.
VA side, the view is spectacular looking right upstream from below. MD side is nice but you are looking more sideways at the falls. But you do get to walk the boardwalk right across a roaring side channel.

Then there's Cunnungham Falls in Thurmont, or Swallow Falls that I have never been to, somewhere out west MD.
Plant it and they will come.

Yep that was the one I saw a pic on Facebook and said WOW and Ric said that's the park Sally goes to.
I think Cunnungham Falls is the one we pass when going to Jill's? We stopped once and drove around a bit but weren't dressed for a hike to the Falls. I keep wondering what it looks like. Might just google it and see what I find.
Yes DG is a total mess I can't post anything and when I try to move around just to look at something it takes me right back to the forms page.

Great Falls was a favorite destination for Mike and I when I would come home for summers in between college semesters. I haven't been there for years. Getting a big nostalgic thinking about it.

I just sat down from cutting a bunch, six stem, of Brussels sprouts I just harvested from the veggie garden. Holly saw what I was doing and ask if it was worth it. So while I continued working, I boiled up a handful added a little butter, salt, and pepper. She is now helping with the last of the cleaning them up. Hilarious!

Hilarious! I'm not a fan of brussel sprouts, but I imagine they're tasty straight from the garden!

I've actually never been to Great Falls. Hm... I should take my mom there one of these days.

They really need to have a barfing emoji because that's what I'd say to those brussel sprouts.

I hear you about doing house work during the winter Sally. What a buzzkill. I'm working refinishing the foyer and then on to the baby room. Luckily not having a job gives me more time to get things done. Rolling my eyes.

Cunningham Falls is a bit of a walk . Could be very interesting with frozen parts

good brussles sprouts are delicious. Mainly, don't boil a long time.
Plant it and they will come.

They are one of those foods 'kids' like me just won't even try. Not to mention they smell disgusting reheated. I always hate when people bring them to work and microwave them for lunch. There are just some foods you should bring to work as leftovers.

Some people are "super tasters" who find broccoli/brussels sprouts to be overly bitter. You can blame your genes! Big Grin

Have been 'taste-tested' and I am a total 'non-taster', and even I don't like brussels sprouts! Big Grin

Sally, I wish I *could* try them the right way--maybe I could like them!

Could be something like how some people don't like cilantro... glad I like that as well!
Plant it and they will come.

Yes, I've read that the cilantro thing is actually caused by a gene. I'm glad I don't have that problem either--I love cilantro!

Ha ha on the Brussel sprouts - hater here too. My sister in law loves them and cooks them every which way when she is here on the weekends. Tells me to try it, I'll really like this or that new fav recipe of hers. Try each and every one of them - still a strong NO for me. Stinks up the whole house for hours too. First time she cooked them, Mike came in and actually took the garbage out thinking it was getting pretty ripe. On the other hand, I like cilantro, whereas she absolutely does not. I'll have to tell her when she comes this weekend that it is a gene thing for both Rolling on the floor laughing
