I think Ken said the tornadoes were about 50 miles away from him (sounds way too close for comfort to me...).

They've got more weather on the way today, then snow coming behind that. Ken's only problem so far has been the glass roof leaking in his new solarium, I think.

Thanks for all your concerns, but we are fine here. Since the solarium is tiled and has that trench drain, the few drips are not important except close to our couch. We simply put a couple of towels down so that the drips did not splash on the fabric and everything is good. It has been so mild that we have had doors/windows open in the solarium for four days. No heat and no AC being used, just the temperature and humidity from outside. I have even been able to leave the doors open in the greenhouses for the last three nights. I don't remember ever being able to do that this time of the year. I am in a T again today. Hopefully the bad weather that struck Texas yesterday and last night won't be as severe when it reaches Mississippi. I'll know tonight.

It's depressing. Always something to fix

Well, guess I should talk about my garden, or get sand in my face. I planted snow peas yesterday.

I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that the weather IS what's going on in your garden right now!

I almost wish I were in the UP. With my luck, I would be greeted with the mother of all blizzards, one of those "historical" happenings. Whistling

Come on up and test out that theory, Ken; at least the snow stays outside the house (or has up until now, anyway).

Glad your all well Ken, We are expecting that storm to move up here by tomorrow bringing high winds freezing rain and snow. Not looking forward to more water here, we are saturated here. At least it shouldn't be a tornado.

Fortunately, we don't live in a dome... and the worst weather we're supposed to have here for the next 10 days is "snow showers" on Tues and Wed this week. I keep telling you all that I live in the "banana belt" ! nodding

The weather has been interesting here. First time in forevever we have had an abundance of rain and it keeps coming. Warmist December since 1964. Enough low temps in November to sweeten the collards a bit but not as good as usual. Just picked the Veggies for New Years supper ( the cowpeas of course have to come from the freezer)

Greetings. We are sitting @ around 30F. Rainy ice to the east of Anchorage. Hope it stays there or moves off further east. Even Fairbanks warmed up from -30 to -40F and is up in the +30F. Crazy weather but that is Fairbanks. We are past hump day (the 21st) so gaining daylight every day. Very little snow.
From -60 Alaska to +100 Virginia. Wahoo

SCButtercup said:im southern gardener but not that southern. Have rutabagas, chard, arugala and lettuce. I'm going to try a recipe for arugala pesto. and mashed rutabaga for Christmas dinner!

Which rutabaga do you grow? I've seen seeds for Joan and seeds for another variety (I forget the name at the moment) in my seed catalogs, but I don't know which would taste good. I'd love to grow it so that I can make some pasties (Michigan thing), but unless I acquire some rutabaga seeds in my seed swap in January, I'll probably hold off on it.

Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I wish! Actually, I wish I were in a 'belt' that could grow pomegranates and coffee beans. Sometimes I'm envious of our southern friends. Rolling my eyes.

farmerdill - nice haul! I wouldn't mind the extended growing season you have but I'd hate the summers. How do you prepare your cowpeas?
