Okay, I've read again and googled UTC. My time right now is 9 pm 1/6/16 and UTC is 3 am 1/7/16. Swaps using this program start at midnight UTC? and it will be a day before the posted date for me in Texas? I'm not unhappy with this swap at all. I've gotten some excellent seeds and am looking forward to tomorrow's picks. Just trying to figure it out and get my mind around the date.

Good morning All,

I have a silly question. How does the swap progress from here and when does it end{ I'm assuming it closes on the 13th}?

I'm guessing that everyone has their must haves selected by now or they are sold out.

I'm thrilled with the selections that I was able to choose from!

Thank you. Group hug

That's about right Lisa. Fresh dibs are given every evening until the end of the swap, which if I am thinking about this correctly, will be at 7:00 pm Eastern on the 12th. If someone has a different understanding please enlighten me.
The number of dibs will increase as they have so far. Most people should have their wishes by then. If on the 10th you guys tell me you need more dibs I can up the total number available for everyone for the last day.
At the end of the swap you will have a new link to your packing slip document which you should print out if you can and include in each baggie of seeds you are sending in. If you can't print it out, approximate the same kind of list by hand to include with your seeds. As soon as you have them ready, mail them in to me. There will be a slight wait for Jonna's to arrive, but I will start sorting as soon as I receive the first package so that I can return them as soon as possible.

1,554 unique items currently offered.
2,385 wishlist items have been marked.
419 dibs have been claimed.
54 tickets are currently uncashed.

We have 25 players. There were some players who found the swap late and either posted here or emailed me. It is unfortunate that they missed this swap, but at least they found us and they will be ready for the next ones.
Thanks for working through some of the little issues one by one. The swap has run quite smoothly and our experiences will help improve the format for future ones. I know some of you are chomping at the bit to create your own swaps here now. Hurray!

It's not over. There are still plenty of great seeds out there. See you tonight.

Alana, it is my understanding, too, that the swap will end at:

6:59:59 pm Eastern Time Zone (UTC -5) on January 12th
5:59:59 pm Central Time Zone (UTC -6) on January 12th
4:59:59 pm Mountain Time Zone (UTC -7) on January 12th
3:59:59 pm Pacific Time Zone (UTC -8) on January 12th

12:59:59 am Central European Time Zone (UTC +1) on January 13th ("Jonna Time" Smiling )

I think that covers all the time zones of participants.

(The ATP server is on UTC time which means it keeps time as if it were a person living in Greenwich in London, England [when on regular GMT time and not on daylight-savings time.])

Alana,

I am loving the swap so far!!! It is so neat how I can view my wishlist and see what "sold" lol I like looking at that list too, just to see what was claimed of mine!! It actually feels great when something of mine is claimed by someone Smiling

And yes, I got a lot of my wishes. a few things I missed but so far, I can't say I have gotten one packet I didn't LOVE! Lovey dubby LOL

Does it initially let you decide how many tickets you wanna give out each day? Also, from your other post, does it print like a master list of all the seeds I have to pack or does it have slips already made for each player individually?

Anywhos, this is a great new way of swapping and I must try it sometime! This year, I would like to get back into hosting swaps and do more! I hate seeing seed swaps disappearing. (especially on my original forum- GW/Houzz)

~Michael

HAPPY PICKING AGAIN TONIGHT EVERYONE!! Group hug I know I will be lurking close to that time lol

The host can set how many picks base on a multiplyer. The multiplier for this swap is 4 so you would get 4 the first day then 8, 12, 16 etc. if the multiplier were set at 5 you would start with 5 on day one then 10, 15, 20 etc. The host sets the multiplier and can change it in the middle of the swap if they wanted.
The list will be separated by each member you owe. The will be a box similar to the quote box above. It will have the name of the member and a list of seeds you owe that person. The name of each plant in the list has a small check box next to it to make it easy to check them off as you pack them. There will be several boxes per page depending on how long each list is. Just cut out each list separately use them to fill each pack then include it in the bag with the seeds.

Horntoad spelled it out well Michael. The handy check off sheet that you can print out will help you, me and the recipient. It's a great feature.

I know what you mean about the disappearing seed swaps. I had almost retired from hosting them myself. Rolling on the floor laughing

Tuesday evening the swap will close and you will need to get your seeds ready and mailed by the deadlines in the instructions. Print out your packing slip if possible. You will see the link once the swap is over. The sooner I have them all the sooner I can get them back out.

Everyone offered up wonderful seeds and I tried not to be a 🐷, but I have a nice collection of seeds in my 'bought' list. I hope everyone has something they really wanted.

At this point 1375 dibs were spent and there are over 400 still out there. The highest number of seeds claimed to date is 107, the lowest is 17. Most people got more seeds than they offered, but thanks to generous traders there were enough seedy riches to make that possible and it is perfectly acceptable. As stated in the rules this is not a one for one swap and many are delighted to find homes for embryonic plants while finding a few good species in return. I tip my hat to you.
Ornamentals were the overwhelming favorite, but vegetables although less popular, got a lot of traffic also.

It's been great meeting different traders and also interesting to see what kind of seeds different people target when they approach a swap.
Another positive aspect is that a good number of veteran swap hosts and people who thought about hosting a swap but dreaded the tedium involved have had a chance to be involved in Dave's swap system and can see just how flexible it can be as hosts tweak their own rules to personalize every swap, and how much of the work is automated. Each swap can be better than the last.

As I have aged, I have gotten more nervous about automated anything - forms, computers and anything involving directions. Sooooo - what a surprise this swap was. All of my scruples proved totally unfounded and unnecessary. This has been fun, painless and unbelievably rewarding, both in fantastic seeds hoped for and beyond, as well as the pleasure of getting to know and learn from great gardeners.

Alana, this has been a wonderful swap - thank you.

I promised myself when I joined this swap that I wouldn't take more than 50 packets. That quickly went to I can't take more than half of what I sell.

How embarrassing! I am the one that claimed 107 packets of seeds. I have currently sold 203 packets of seed. I need to sell 11 packets before the end of the swap!

I made a couple dozen additions to my have list early this morning, take a look.

Lisa.....The seed piggy

Edit to say I retracted some dibs and added more seeds.

Thank you everyone for sharing your wonderful seeds and your generosity! I am so excited about the seeds I dibbed in this swap. Drooling So many wonderful plants. I agree that this new swap system is really amazing. Dave did a great job and it is a great new way to swap seeds. Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of seeds to share this year Sad , but I look forward to growing these seeds and sharing lots of seeds in next year's swap. Hurray!

Thank you Poisondartfrog for hosting this swap!! It has been really fun! nodding Thank You!

Lisa don't retract your dibs! You have been so generous! You deserve all the wonderful seeds your heart desires! Thumbs up nodding
