Tarev! If I wanted to take my tillsandia out of the soil now would that be ok? Would it need some acclimatizing? How would I go about that? Would I start by taking it out of the pot but leave tr soil there for awhile?

Hi sy, just remove and spray away all excess soil. Give your tilly a good shower and let it hang dry upside down so no water settles in the crown. This is for your tilly's okay, not your vrisea.

Btw, that's a very cute vrisea pup! Good nurturing, make it grow a bit more before you separate from mommy plant.

Yes tarev It seems ok i got some advise from @dyzzypyxxy about giving it some nitrogen but I couldnt find anything in the shops without p+k so I made my own from nettles and sprayed it.

There's a big Tillandsia in this pot, wedged between the trunks of the trees, dragon tree (Dracaena marginata) & Ti (Cordyline fruticosa.) It doesn't show in this pic but there's also some Spanish moss living on the top of the big Tilly.

I love how the tillandsia blends with the marginata! I think I will use the d. marginata as a companion for my T. Cyanea
and a pic.
The lightings a little off but I think it still looks good.

TY for the kind words! I'm trying to display the few Tillys I have as close to how they would be in nature as possible, "on" a tree. That one has doubled in size by growing a pup since I got it so I hope it's happy enough. I spray water on it a couple times a week while I'm watering the soil for the trees. In a couple years, I plan to replant the trees upright again, and the zig-zags I've manipulated along the trunks by leaning the trees various ways should be visible.

I saw the zig zags tiffany! Is that for the tillies? I Just got another bloom, the blooms open at night.. right? Maybe not! I just notice it will sit all day with nothing then morning comes and there's one formed and opened or in the process! When I bought it there was one flower just makin its way out and the next morning there was 2 fully open!



This is a very pretty tillandsia! I also see its cactus/succulent, a tillandsia with succulent leaves? Got me thinking.. this might be a good alternative for someone who likes succulents but has difficulties growing them when it comes to watering and medium! They wouldn't be able to overwater it.. right?

Tillandsia really changed my life. Once you figure out how to take care of them they become so versatile. Rain water is always the best thing for your plants. You guys need to try this product from amazon etc if you want to mount your air plants on to wood:

Hey, Harold. I lived in Goula for 25 yr. and then Starkville for 21. Two months ago I moved to Vero Beach, my final move! You have a great collection of Tillandsia, and I will guess that the bulk of them are hybrids. Often a species can be identified but seldom can a hybrid. A few hybrids have specific flower coloration and/or patterns, so those can probably be identified when in bloom. In my opinion, the vast majority of hybrids cannot be identified though. There are simply far too many with similar leaves and similar flowers.

I love your mounts. When I had my little tropical plant business, 'Tropical Plants & More (when I retired in Starkville 7 yr. ago), I mounted a lot of epiphytes on all kinds of woods, cypress and cypress knees included.

Pics from yesterday of T. ionantha on Dracaena trunk. Luckily the air plant stayed attached when this pot got blown and took a tumble off of the porch a couple weeks ago.
