Hello all,

I was outside yesterday in my front yard, when I spotted a small bird hopping along the side of the house. It wouldn't take off, just kept hopping away. It was gray in color but had a blue spot between its wings on its back. I haven't been able to find anything online to ID this little guy. Sure wish I'd been able to get a picture. Anyone have an idea what this would be? I'm in south Texas near San Antonio.

Thanks! Kim

Wish I could help, but maybe this site can help you narrow it down:

Thanks IbisFla...I tried that but nothing came up like it. I think it might have been a juvenile since it refused to fly away. I didn't think we would have any this time of year, but the weather has been weird so far this winter. I'll have to just keep my eyes open for another one.

@blueeyes, when you get settled, you might want to fill in your Public Profile, so that it shows your location/zone in the upper right hand corner of all your posts. See where mine says 'Name: Ibis Orlando, FL (Zone 9B)' ? It makes it a little easier for people to help if you have questions.

You're right, the weather lately has been very weird. My azaleas have already started blooming, and camellias are just about done. It feels like Mother Nature is confused Big Grin
