More end of season sales! Yay! Some kind of salvia for $2.50/ea for 1gal pots. Not quite sure as they're all the same, but they have 2 different tags. But for $2.50? I'll take the chance. And they're all quite beautiful, too!

Here's a pic of when I got the 2nd batch of agastaches. I need to do some research on the salvias as they're definitely not this "Sensation Deep Blue" as marked (half are marked that)

Just wanted to post a picture of our Salvia guaranitica which has really taken off in the garden this year. This one was moved in the spring and is very happy in the new location.

This one is being crowded out of its space by a Kronprincessen Viktoria rose which suddenly decided to really start growing this fall---go figure. Anyway, we are going to take this salvia out and put it in a different space, and hope it does as well as the one above.

I saw a beautiful blue salvia in the Perennials Forum but I have forgotten the name, must go back and look it up--it was grown from seed.

Handsome color combos, the blue with the yellow canna and also with the white rose! You should add both those images to their respective database entries! Thumbs up

I have 2 very tall Salvia coerulea 'Costa Rica Blue', this one is in the back of my satellite dish pergola.

The blooms are very large and intense in color.

Great blue.
Agastaches here are cut back for winter. Next week there will be a serious clean up. Then I'll be really depressed.

I have cut back both seasons and dont see any difference.
My Apache Sunset was reseeding too much.

This is from Bluestone
"Most will self sow to spread, so deadhead to prevent seeding. Cut to about 6" in late fall and remove debris. Remove unwanted seedlings in spring. To promote strong stems, avoid too much water and fertilize only once a year in fall. "

Nice to see I have done something right.

Just want to thank Sue for her comments on my salvia pics. I love her Salvia "Costa Rica Blue" and I looked it up. I see it is supposed to be hardy down to 20 degrees, but Salvia guaranitica is supposed to be tender, here, too, and we have gone down to 10 degrees on at least two occasions before, and definitely below 20 degrees numerous times, and the salvia comes back. I gave a start of this to my mother and a friend of hers in MO--Zone 6b--and it is thriving there with no mulch. Guess it hit just the right spot. The salvia I saw on the Perennials Forum grown from seed is Salvia patens "Blue Angel" Several years ago, I tried growing this one from seed, but one miserable plant came up that didn't last long. I believe the soil needed to be better, but that's just a guess. I love agastaches, but the few I have tried to grow don't last long, I think in this case our soil was too wet.
