The Fragrant Path is one of my favorite seed sources for several reasons! There is not, however, a glitzy, high-tech website with garish photos that the plants cannot live up to. Imagine instead perusing their photo-free paper catalog, with informative and charming descriptions from the person who actually grows the plants! This is a rare gem; a gentler version of Dan Hinkley's original written-word catalog for Heronswood. Focusing on fragrant or unusual plants, you will find things here not offered elsewhere.
The complete catalog is not sent out yearly, just a flyer with new additions. Pay a few dollars and get the complete one, it is worth every penny. Ed Rasmussen, Tudy and Judi will get around to a website...someday. Find them today at P.O. Box 328, Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska, 68023. Dust off the checkbook and find the Slow Food equivalent of seed sources.
p.s. Their name is from Louise Beebe Wilder's classic book from 1936, The Fragrant Path; a book about sweet scented flowers and leaves. ----Gayle

p.s. I just received this message from Judi at The Fragrant Path:
"The catalog is $3, People order by mail.
The website is down due to outdated software, and we're working to get it back up eventually.

See the issuu.com website

Here you can view a 2016 catalog of The Fragrant Path, without the introduction by Ed Rasmussen and without ordering information.

As you can see it is a good read, with literary tidbits and just the right amount of cultural information for the experienced gardener. Enjoy!

Hi Gayle & Welcome!

The problem is that after repeated emails to ask about ordering and asking to be added to their mailing list, they neither reply nor send a seed list. I did get one brief email reply from Ed last year, but he didn't even answer the question that I asked. That doesn't instill much faith in me that the rest of their customer service will be any better.

I just received a 2017 supplement highlighting blue & purple flowers but didn't get a 'real' 2017 catalog & can't find one on-line, unless the 2016 version is still active.

I got the blue and purple flower flyer, too. I won't be ordering from it, only because it does not include anything I'm interested in. I've always gotten quality seeds from them.
