Here are some pictures of rusty things in my yard. This first picture is one of a set of 3 rusty planters that I found at a garage sale. I hung all 3 of them on our fence that is around our yard.

This next picture is an old stove I saw along the road that said "free" so I made my husband go home and get the truck and go back and get it for me. This is before and after pictures of where I put in in our yard.

This is an old wheelbarrow that I picked up at a garage sale for half price the last day of the sale.

I think this is part of a milk separator that was used on my husbands farm back in the day.

This is an old dump rake that a tree grew up through. The truck is still on the rake. I call this my bird area.

Here is our largest rusty piece. Was made from a tobacco warehouse floor. Iron...it won't blow over (excepting a hurricane or similar) it was a prototype for a circle of people commissioned for a park. A dear man - Francis Vega who passed too soon - designed and fabricated it. You may know him by a popular garden bench..the butterfly bench. Cricket Forge Metals. It has beencopied many times now. His main business was railings, historical reproductions, doors, gates. etc.

I love all the repurposing of cast-off into treasures for the garden. Paul, I really love your finds blended together. One of my favorite places to shop is a salvage yard. I usually go with three other gardeners and the big machines usually stop while the guys take a break and laugh at us old ducks scurrying about digging into piles of nails, wire, engine parts, etc.

I like to collect all old wooden handled garden tools and attach them to a long section of chain link fence that dissects my yard. This hides the chain link and makes a wonderful conversation piece.

That is a wonderful way to give those old tools life. And, even tho the wooden handles are thin...there is a good sense of privacy.

Rosie - those are just beautiful Lovey dubby

Bonnie - what a nifty idea - you could also use them in the garden for climbing vines. Thumbs up

Rosie, I love your circle of people. Cool!

Bonnie, you have a great collection of old tools. I have collected several tool heads that are missing the handles. They are laying in my flower bed behind the garage. I also have a few wooden handled tools that I have attached to the posts in my raised bed garden. Some old rakes are leaning up against the house in my Hosta bed. There are also 2 old push lawn mowers there and an old hand tiller. I love my Hostas but unfortunately so do the slugs.

I use old metal bed frames in my garden. These are used to divide a garden area from a vehicle area. I also use bed frames to let plants run on and gates.

Rosie that bottle tree is 'growing' near my 'flower bed'. I framed and laid tiles over a small area and put the bed on it. The tree is heavy and I wired it to the bed so that they both help hold each other in place during a bad wind storm.

Thumb of 2016-02-06/grannysgarden/56dd8f

This year it had white begonias growing in pots beneath it and I started a morning glory vine up the tree. I think I am going to do a cardinal vine this summer. The bright red blooms among the blue bottles are wonderful.

I found the bed at a flea market sitting to the side of the building. It has a head and foot and a metal bottom. The people that had it thought that the metal bottom was a side and that one side was missing. I guess they had never put it together so I got it for $9. I was very happy. I have not painted it. If it starts to rust I may paint it rust. Forgive the leaves and weeds. My garden is never as neat as it should be..... but neither is my house.... and my car is my 'other purse'. LOL
