Carole,
I value input. If it wasn't for you I doubt I would have tried the Marconi pepper, lol!

And, I came here for the advice I needed to hear, so I thank you again :o)

Carol: Maybe there are varieties that are not as invasive, but this one is definitely a spreader and after
an awful experience several years ago when I planted something in my garden that ran rampant and
I spent the next few years tearing it out, I've learned to be very cautious about any plant whose
description contains the words "vigorous grower." I'm too old to spend what little gardening years
I have left trying to weed out undesirable plants.

BTW, the main plant had berries on it when I got it last fall and I tasted them just to see what they
tasted like. I was not impressed. But they have an excellent reputation for being healthful.

I don't know about the varieties. I think this may be where I got mine but it hasn't really spread very much. http://www.starkbros.com/produ...

Carole,
I get Starkbros and I think that made me wonder if they were worth it.

It takes awhile to get established and it doesn't run all over the place here.

I've got two small plants coming from Baker Creek this spring, to be planted in SW MI. My little seedlings last year never made it beyond their small pot. DD and I are eager to at least try them. At least they're cheaper than the cost of one pricey Heuchera. Smiling

Hi Carole,

I'm growing a goji berry bush here in AZ. Unfortunately, the ground squirrels knawed it back to twigs twice before it got a chance to do much. However, now that it has the 1/4 inch welded wire as opposed to chicken wire, it's coming back! So, I guess all I can add to the topic is that they are tough plants! I basically ignored it for 6 months, but giving it much care now that I see life! I thought it was a goner for sure.

Can't wait to try the fruit!

Good point, Cindy.

Gina, I hope you have good success with your bush. It will be interesting to see what happens. Mine is putting out lots of new growth right now. Hurray!

When I bought the dry fruit, and it came from China so I was doubly cautious, I thought it was dry and tasted a bit like hay. Come to think of it, I think because of a med I'm on I shouldn't eat them. DD mentioned that after I sent left-overs to her. I'll have to Google that again.

Goji berries originally came from China and there is a lot of production there. I like to grow my own or if I buy dried berries, I get these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BPX4OPS/

This is why I decided to not grow them, lol, and I had forgotten. Otherwise, they sound good for you!

Yep, always good to check with your doctor if you're on meds. I've had no problems with them and I have room to grow them so it's all good for me.
