The caption on that pic says, "Just picked this little guy up from Walmart on the sale priced items table."

Isn't that a good deal! I sooo rarely see anything that healthy looking on clearance, or even discounted a little bit.

I'm trying my very best to avoid the clearance table. I have no self control. I'm picky on the "pots" that came with it, so if the plant will not survive at least I will have the pot to remember them by. nodding

This is not plants but I bought a dozen of these 6 inches azalea pots stamped made in Italy for $2.97 a piece.

Great buy on the pots!

A friend and I drove up to our favorite PA nursery today, making a day trip of it as usual since it's 2 hours from here. The plants definitely weren't in clearance condition, but the prices there are like shopping at the bargain table! After getting 3 bales of potting mix at half the price I'd pay locally, the gas and mileage were covered, so the other bargains were just a treat. Their prices are up a bit (hellebores in gallon pots that used to be $12 or $13 are $15 this year) but still better than half what we'd pay locally.

Can't beat a relaxing day with my BFF... except by a relaxing day with my BFF and PLANT BARGAINS!

I am really very happy with this seaside petunia clearance rescue from late last year. I bought it mainly for $2 the pot was worth it on its own. Plus I was attracted to the blooms as it reminds me of the Adeniums. And it has been blooming non-stop!

I think I may be able to propagate this from cuttings. I've neglected this several times and the few rainy days and a little bit of water made this bounce back bigger and brighter. I am a fan!

I've never tried petunias from cuttings, bet it would be quicker to blooming size than from seeds. Keep us posted on that! They're so cheerful.

I read spring is the best time to start from cuttings. So I will try some cuttings tomorrow. Supposedly when you take cuttings it encourages the "momma" plant to have more branches.

I just rescued these for 50% off. Judging from the size, these are newly repotted and there are a lot of plants here.

I will let it get acclimated to my back porch and hopefully I will enjoy a lot of blooms.

I love those bright flowers , they seem to need to stay well watered and haven't lasted as long as I'd like. I am not good at daily watering.
Plant it and they will come.

These would only do well for me if they are in part shade. We get almost daily rains and if I put it in a pot that is semi-self watering I don't have to water it daily. I also have to cover the top with thick mulch.

The weird "clearance" pricing structure @ L's caused me to forego getting a lot of clearance plants when I was yesterday. If I'm remembering right, original prices of $5-9 are $4 on clearance. So the piles of plants marked I wanted marked $5.99 were not a good deal for that. This makes no sense because the less expensive and more expensive plants are still half off.

I don't have a dime to gamble on questionable looking plants because I had to spend over $60 to get a decent 100 foot hose. Ironically, it's not 100 feet because it does not reach to where the last 100 ft hose reached. No, I haven't got bored enough to measure it. Maybe the replaced hose was over 100 feet, but that's not a very believable theory.

Shrinkflation is what it is, if correctly labeled. Maybe everybody else just "knows" a 100 foot hose is now 94 feet? If that's a form of shrinkflation, things are going to get very complicated. I already knew that their "12 inch pavers that are 2" high" are 11.7 inches and 1.7" high. Why they are allowed to do that is a mystery to me.

I did get a hanging pot of very vigorous strawberry Begonia for half off, which felt like the reg price from 5'ish or so years ago. And a couple of smaller plants originally $2 on clearance for $1.

It's like the bags of Miracle Gro that Home Depot sells. They look just like the 2 cu ft bags, but are only 50 qts, it's clearly printed on the bags, but 2 cu ft is 59.8 qts. Yet they sell those 50 qt bags for the same price as 2 cu ft bags. I refuse to buy any of my potting mixes since they started doing that a few years ago. I think it started during Covid, probably to squeeze more money out of people.

Good grief! IDK when the hose shrinkage started. The bricks have never been a full foot. I'm sure a lot of people have to make a second trip when they finish a patio or walkway and the bricks they calculated they'd need weren't enough. I really do need the missing 6 feet of hose. The garden is designed in regard to the reach of a 100 foot hose. Maybe it would just be cheaper to just have another spigot installed.

Now that I think about it, I've gotten a shorter than advertised hose too. A few years ago I had to replace the 75' back hose that reached even behind the garage. I bought another 75' hose and it doesn't even reach to the back of the garage so the only way to water things at the far back is to stand there with a nozzle that shoots it far enough to reach. I thought I screwed up and must have had a 100' hose that I replaced with only 75', but I just checked the orders... and both were 75' hoses, the first one that I could lay down back there and leave to water was not 100' as I thought. Grumbling

Next one I order I'm measuring when it arrives.
