When I first starting eating purslane in 1999 I read a lot about it and from what I gathered, it's VERY popular in the meditteranian diet. I think the only time I found it bitter personally was when I ate "old" stems at the end of the season. I think the more popular variety for eating is not the ornamental purslane with the blooms. I made a salad once with the hot pick petals on top...it was a hit!
If you look closely, youll see a praying mantis who liked it a lot too!
