Lin - The flu went through my household recently, too! My 28 yr. old son got it first. He was really sick. Then my husband got it. Also very sick. 3 weeks later, I got it. And it kicked my behind, too! I was down for 5 days and am still not right. It has turned into a head/sinus infection. I have heard the cough labeled as the "100 day cough" because it seems to take forever to go away. No flu shot here either. I seem to get the flu every 4-5 years (I work at a school, so am exposed to everything). I think the flu mutates enough after so many years that I am no longer resistant to the newest strain. Though I've heard people who get the flu shot sometimes still get the flu because the flu shot might not have the current flu virus in it to help resist it. So ....
Almost all the teachers in my wing at school got it. It was not fun.
I hope you and your hubby are finally on the mend and start regaining your strength. I am slowly getting my strength back. This was a bad strain. More so than others I've had. Everyone regardless of age has said that who have gotten it.
Take it easy. You do not want to get a relapse of it! I know some who did and wound up in the hospital. So don't over do it!
Take good care of yourself and your hubby!
