My Favorite fountain surrounded by plants....

A couple of the garden faces I make.

Charleen,,,love the fountain. What is it that brings us such joy, listening to gurgling water?

I laid them on the grass for the photos. Now they are on a lattice fence section.
They are slip cast with terra cotta clay, fired and painted.

Well, they are amazing! Do you sell them or is it for your own use?

They are beautiful...Love them.

This is going to be a great place to come for ideas for my garden. Becky you are such a talented/creative person. Can't wait to see what you will have for us.

Charleen I don't think I've seen that water fountain before. Have you been hiding it?

Woodthrush I don't know anything about clay. What is slip cast. Those are lovely faces. What kind of paint do you use? I love the affect it give.

Slip casting is watered down clay, specially blended, you can buy at ceramic stores. It makes the clay pourable. You pour the clay into a mold. The mold is made of pourous plaster. The mold absorbs some of the water from the clay and leaves you with a casting. You pour off the excess clay and let the rest set up in the mold until slightly firm. Then you remove it from the mold, let it completely air dry, and fire in a kiln.
These faces were base coated with black paint. Then, using metallic bronze, copper and a verdi green and a wet sponge, you randomly dab on colors.

They are treasures woodthrush, with a lot of love put into the making.
