I love the second one too. All are beautiful portulaca blooms though!

Thanks Becky! This was my first time growing portulaca from seed. I actually had hundreds of little seedlings but they thinned themselves out. They're in a heavy planter in pure sand.

We will call you "The Seed Whisperer!"

I'm kind of a lazy gardener when it comes to seeds. I just threw them on the surface of the sand and gave them water every once in a while.

I LIKE seeds you can just throw down and water...unless it's unwelcome weeds that come up instead

I have plenty of unwelcome weeds in my garden.

Very pretty Searie and I love all the colors. The blooms on your portulaca are beautiful. I've never seen them that big. Love the two tones too

They are beautiful! I especially love the orange.

Funny thing: my favorite decorating color is red. I also wear alot of red. BUT I do not like red flowers at all. Have no idea why.

PLUS I do not wear orange or like it in my decorating. BUT I love orange flowers.

Oh I am so hooked. I just went to Walmart and what did I find. Portulaca plants of several colors for just 3 bucks for 6 small plants.

I bought the Bougainvillea in spring of 2014 and there was a skinny weedy looking plant in the container. I guessed that it was Purslane and sure enough, it grew and bloomed. It stayed in the container and came inside for the winter. It has really made a thick mat and has been blooming for a couple of weeks now. Last summer some hail broke some off and I stuck the pieces in water where they promptly began growing roots, so there's another container which has started blooming. It's not nearly as thick as this one in the Bougainvillea container, though.
