Thanks Rick and Kadie.

Well my head is spinning now. So much information. I have 2 types of fertilizers. One with 20% N and one with 10% N . So I better use Only the 10% than. Also perhaps in a bit more weak solution to be safe. I do not have a lab here. So I can not measure things.
Sighing!

All very good information here but I am most concerned with the no drainage issue. I am not sure how you can adequately flush a container without drainage.

Rick's information is so good to read and has much to offer.

I feel that these are tools that each of us need, but people get too analytical and confused in the end. To the point it becomes too much and exhausting.

For the Adenium juvenile to adult try to stay close to ratios with 2-1-3, such as 9-3-6, 24-8-16.
These have worked for a lot of people growing Adeniums.
This of course is in container growing.
The Adeniums do not require high levels of P as many blooming fertilizers suggest.

I am no scientist and try to analyze and enjoy doing so, but I have seen people become overwhelmed with too much and this is not good.

The drainage issue in containers is very important, whether it seedling trays or pots. Definitely a problem with root issues and possible demise of the trees.

Thank You Rick for taking time to post this information.

Well it is only for now that they are in containers with no drainage, because I did sow them in there. In a little while they will be able to move to my greenhouse, and than I can transplant them in separate pots wich do have holes ofcourse. Than things will be more easy. So I can give them a more weak solution or give clear water now and than.

Before the advent of soil-less container mixes, good ole garden soil was used in containers.

I remember an aunt that used 5-gal. tin biscuit containers filled with garden soil that had bits of gravel for her roses, hibiscus, and other plants. There are folks who still do this using 5 gal. plastic paint containers. Of course earthworms thrive in this and aerate the soil. An occasional top dressing of aged chicken manure was used for fertilizer, and some coffee grounds and banana peels thrown in for good measure.

Life was simpler then! Sighing!

I don't know about Adeniums, but Staghorn Ferns love the banana peels. In fact, I placed some cut-up peels in some stags this morning. Waste not - want not. Thumbs up

I'm sorry about that. It delights me greatly that we now understand enough about soil and plants that things like "burn" and "well-drained" can be understood at the level of chemistry and physics. I get enthused about it and blab on about things that are not of much interest to many people.

@Ursula of the "Orchid" forum (and other forums) said that the solarium should be titled "Orchid and Plumeria Paradise". Thus the OPP.

It is a nice home for my plants (and for we humans). I apologize for the use of the acronym without explanation. *Blush*

RickCorey,
You have no need to say sorry. I did not mean any disrespect or lack of interest in what you posted and I did not mean "You" where to analytical. This is how individuals can get when first trying to take it all in. What you posted is very helpful and I enjoy it. I have had people contact of the years and I tell them to take it all in, in small doses.
Your knowledge is needed and of great interest, please keep it coming.
Rick
