I just know you will get it figured out Christi. Don't buy the fully grown rosettes unless they have offsets. The mature rosettes could just bloom and not reproduce for you.

Have purchased twice recently the one that looks like a rock. Both of them were dead within 24 hours. Sorry I am so dumb and give you such crazy descriptions.

Nice link Lynn. Wow, their gargoyles are really creepy looking! Not sure I'd want one of those hanging around my house. If I came around a corner and saw that looking at me I'd probably scream!

Oh my goodness, I didn't see those Chris. They are not to my liking either. Not at all friendly looking, and rather evil looking. Sad

Hello Everyone,
I am new to Cubits, and trying to navigate my way around.
I love all plants succulent(including Sedums, Semps and Jovibarba).
Learning about them--your site is so informative I can see how I need to do some things differently especially my soil. I live in South Florida and have for a long time, but I am orginally from Medford, Oregon and also lived in Maine for many years.
I do garden and container designing and and more recently I have been doing living walls with succulents.
You all sound like you have been into succulents for a long time and are full of information .
I will post a few pictures, but I don't have any collections of Sedums or Semps so I don't know whether to or not?
I am not even sure I am posting this in the right place, I hope you will all bare with me until I learn the ropes.
Confused
faeyh from florida

Hi faeyh,

Welcome to the Sedum, Semp & Jovi Cubit! It's wonderful to have you here. It doesn't matter if you don't have any collections. But be warned, we'll do what we can to get you addicted! Thumbs up

Yes, please post pictures anytime. If you click on the "Forums" tab on the upper right side of this page it will take you to specific forums where you can post pictures. I would absolutely love to see your living walls and containers. So jump right in and join the fun! Hurray!

I agree We can't wait to see your photos and experience with this type of plants. Please don't worry, we are a friendly, very interested group, learning from each other. Everyone has some ideas or knowledge to add that is helpful to others. That is what this Cubit is all about, growing together in knowledge. As goldfinch said, 'Come join in'. Thumbs up

valleylynn said:What I mixed up:
1 part MG
1 part Turface
1 part chicken grit
1 part fir bark (smaller particles)
I do not sift the Turface.

I'm got a few types of sempervivum about a month ago and planted some in
1 part turface
1 part granite grit
1 part fir bark (smaller particles)

and planted others in
5 parts fir bark
1 part moss
1 part perlite
a little lime

Both of these are Al's mixes and they're both working great. The 5-1-1 mix sempervivum will be replanted outside in the spring while those in the 1-1-1 mix are in a container that will remain inside. I've also switched all my succulents to the 1-1-1 mix and everything else to the 5-1-1. Everything is happy so far.

Most of them are doing very well Debbie. I have 2 cultivars that are showing some stress from all the rain we've been having. And some of the ones I got in Oct are struggling because the birds and squirrel kept digging/pulling them up since they don't have much of a root system yet.
I don't think I will add new ones anymore from mid summer to fall. Only spring and early summer.
The drought we had last summer was really hard on the new ones. My established ones did well and didn't seem to be bothered at all.
