Leave the flower heads of Black-eyed Susan, (Rudbeckia) over winter. Although not particularly attractive all dried out, the seed heads will feed the birds.

Good tip. And any seeds that drop to the ground will eventually become more Rudbeckias to feed the birds next year.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

I am always happy to see the Rudbeckia come back up each year. I have never noticed it to be agressive in our area, as some have claimed but maybe the birds are dropping some seeds off elsewhere LOL!

Sheila, soooo true. We are having some serious drought here this year in most of Texas, even here in the east it has been very dry and much of the wildflowers and food for wildlife is suffering. I am very happy to leave seeds for them and worry that it may not be enough food this winter so, I may put up a feeder.
