We've had a struggle getting people to post in the Tennessee forum so I'm moving to the Southeast Regional.

I would agree about a Magnolia blossom as a badge.

I do hope we can have one of the most active regional forms here on ATP, so please contribute ideas and posts and photos of your garden. New posts everyday will help keep up the interest. I think we have a perfect area for gardening.

Can some creative person create a little "blurp" for the upper right side of the screen so folks know which states and/or parts of states are included in the Southeast Regional Gardening Forum? Sure, I know we welcome any and all people from anywhere but folks would benefit from knowing the basic boundaries of the region when they are asking for advice.

Here is the Wikipedia map, I always think of La. as being in the southeast. If we can't get our own little map, maybe we could just link to this one?

I'm gathering info to come up with a combo of a map and some written text for our info box. I'm hoping to get something up either tonight or tomorrow. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome, of course!

Larry, I hope that we have one of the most active regional forms, too!
It will take a group effort from all of us, but feel free to throw any ideas my way on how I can assist in making that happen!

I checked the Wikipedia using the term 'southeast' region...

According to Wiki the region known as the Southeast USA usually refers to the states:
Tennessee,
North Carolina,
South Carolina,
Georgia,
Florida,
Mississippi and
Alabama.

That being said it sometimes includes:
Delaware,
Maryland,
Virginia,
West Virginia,
Kentucky,
Arkansas and
Louisiana.

There will always be some overlap and each gardener knows best where they fit in climate-wise. Speaking only for myself I know that my climate in Savannah is much different than that of Atlanta.

I'm sure we will welcome any and all folks who want to help keep the Southeast Gardening Region Forum jumping.

We consider ourselves in "the deep south". Not that helps much I guess.

I've been following this thread, Marilyn, thanks for including me. However . . . I'm in far Western Kentucky meaning I don't get the same weather as you do, not at all. I'm bordered by the Cumberland River, the Ohio, the Tennessee and to the West, the Mississippi. My weather and growing environment (zone 7a) is much like that of Oklahoma and the plains states, though we have the variety just as you do but all the rivers flowing around us sort of change the playing field and it's hard to place us anywhere. Very high humidity and summer droughts go hand in hand.

So I'll think about this and will likely plant myself in more than one Regional Forum. How's that?

I'll see what happens with the Tennessee Forum as well but this looks it will be a very active and lively forum.

I've hear of a plant called Rose of Sharon but I also would like to have some honest to goodness "Sharon" seed. What a joy it would be to have a garden full of Sharon's beauty.
