Hello friends,

I got Bee's Jubilee a couple days ago in a gallon pot, I don't really want to dig in my flower bed because I may hurt roots of the other clematis nearby, so I have to keep this one in the pot, will it be OK to stay in the gallon pot, or should I move it to a bigger pot ?

Thank you,
Nan

I only have one in a pot and it has had its problems. Others do grow them in containers so I hope they'll come along to help you.

How long do you plan to keep it in a one gallon and is the root ball small right now? I only hold mine in one gallon for a while until I decide where to plant and if it ends up staying in there a while, I pot it up into bigger pots so as not to risk stunting it in any way and I also don't want to risk it overheating or getting dried out. I do grow a couple permanently in containers but they are the largest sized as I can get them.
Bee's Jubilee can be a big plant so eventually it should get planted to reach it's full potential.

Just saw this. If not planted yet I think you can keep in a large pot through the summer. I like those insulated pots made by Southern Patio.Keep it mulched, add drainage like expanded shale and pot it with the crown ~2 inches deep. I would keep it in part shade.

Hi Anna,

Thanks and how you doing ? I can't find anything that showed me about Clematis in a pot much, so I finally gave in and planted in a kind of tight spot, and hoping it will be OK or I may move it next year... Thank you for your help !

They don't take up much foot space so you should do fine.
