A lot between Heuchera, Heucherella and Tiarella I would say at least 30.

Wow Bob! That is alot. I have to believe you lost more than Heuchera, Heucherella and Tiarellas. I know my rhododendron looks awful as well as my azaleas. I don't think I will lose them, but I think it will be a couple of years before they look halfway decent again. I also lost some roses as well. I really hope we don't have a winter like that again.

What surprised me the most is I only lost a few Echinacea. I thought I would lose a lot with the garden sitting in ice for such a long time. I did lose my apple tree. The Coral Bark Maple and Smoke tree lost about half each. And the Ben Franklin tree and American Beauty Bush are almost down to nothing. Also lost about a dozen ferns and 6 or so Hellebore. No way do I ever want another Winter like that one, nor can I afford one.

That is a huge list. I'm surprised at the hellebore loss, thought those were so hardy. Hope you find some great sales. Do you have good nurseries around you home or do you have to rely on big box and mail order?

I have trouble keeping Heuchera alive in not so bad winter so I was not surprised that I lost most of mine. It is not a big deal because I know they are iffy at best in my garden so I only buy them if they are 5.00 or less.

My rhododendron and my azaleas would have been fine but the deer were so hungry because of the bad winter they decided they had to eat what ever was available. Rhody is low on their list of eating but they had to be very hungry. It was funny they ate the white one but did not bother the purple.
This was last yr. This year I did not get any white blooms at all. There were only leafless stems.


By the way Heucheras are 2.99 at Santa Rosa. They have some of the ones I lost.
