Hi Everyone, my husband (retired RN) and I (retired CEO nonprofit) have a small 11acre farm. We've fenced off 8 pastures and paddocks for rotational grazing. We also have rabbit and compost crops planted. We wondered if anyone in the south has planted a cultivar of Bahia called Tif-Quik ? It is a hybrid but we wondered if it will set see this fall. It is one year old. Thanks ahead for your thoughts!
I used to have a hay farm operation growing Coastal Hay and we tried to keep Bahia out of our meadows. Most of our customers did not want to feed Bahia. I am not sure about Tif-Quik and have never heard of it. I would suggest that you contact your local County Extension Agent and tell him what you plan for a pasture / grazing.
I have heard of Tif-Quik but our pastures are mostly ordinary Bahia. It establishes easily and survives most adversity. However, during the drought, the Bermuda tolerated close grazing and came back better than the Bahia.

Thank you Thomas and Porkpal,
My 95 year young Dad who lives with us was sick- I really appreciate your replies! We have this one actor in TifQuik and we will do something else for the recently cleared 4 acres. In the meantime this summer we planted a 5 way seed from Petcherseeds.com and we are very very pleased with its summer growth in our usually dry are of South Georgia.
