Howdy Neighbors!

Yesterday I got out in my sunshaded garden and planted my butternut squash, sugar pumpkin, cucumbers, more pole bans, and corn. I had a head of iceberg lettuce that was still growing strong, so I threw in some Romaine.

For the most part, I feel confident that most will do well, but I'm second guessing my choice of planting the corn. With the sunshade overhead, the garden is at least 10 degrees cooler than the direct sunlight, so I'd say it averages 90 degrees under cover. Anyone out there have any advise on what to expect from my sweet corn? It's an early variety with days to harvest at 66-68 days. Anyway, once my onions harvest, I thought I'd follow with corn, although I probably won't plant until late August.

The last time I had it in the main bed, we had to share our crop with the corn worms. I've learned since then that mineral oil on the silks prevent them from entering into the ear... Can anyone confirm or deny this practice?
