Team Fresh Flowers Inside, or Team Flowers Outside

By Trish

One thing that flower gardeners have is a lot of flowers. The question is: Do you bring them inside?

Team Inside for me. I like picking whatever is blooming at the same time and putting them in a vase. I used to take vases of cut flowers to work and give them to whoever seemed to be having a rough day.

Team inside here too!

My favorites are peonies (hopefully I've shaken the ants off Whistling ) hydrangeas, and roses although sometimes I just put barely open roses in a brandy snifter and watch them open.

Having fresh cut flowers in the house makes me smile Big Grin

Definitely inside. Part of why I grow flowers to begin with. Smiling Also, my sister works at the same place I do. She has it really tough personally and I try to find something blooming to cut every day and take it to her. Lovey dubby

I like to have a vase of wildflowers inside, but I only pick the ones that are plentiful so there will always be a wonderful variety out there. I recently saw an article that said that seeing fresh flowers gives people more energy. I can't remember where I saw it, but here's a good article on how they improve our mood:

There are many flowers I grow just to cut and bring inside! Peonies, sweet peas and daffodils for example. When I still had the huge perennial bed outside, I had bouquets of flowers inside all the time. Now that I only have a small area in flowers, I don't bring in as many, but I do as often as I can.

GOTTA bring cut flowers inside. The plainest, ordinariest common Zinnia (outside) is a cheerfull companion and miniature Sun inside.

And almost any flower, with a sunny window behind it, is a stained glass window no craftsperson could ever equal.

And giving them away is as much fun as being given flowers! For non-gardeners, it seems like some kind of miracle to see flowers right-there-on-their-desk instead of in someone else's yard, or at a florist.

Who can look at a bouquet of flowers and NOT smile?

>> Rick, where did you get that picture of the cute frog lineup

Those little show-offs staged it for me. i hardly ever see any frogs or toads, and only saw one other tree frog, ever. But there they were, after a rain, posing in the wettest Zinnia bloom of the bed.

They waited until I had plenty of shots, and then I never saw them again.

It was meant to be. That's all one can conclude. WOW
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
