I have three hollyhocks blooming now, a double red, double white, and a single peachy yellow. I just love hollyhocks and plan to add some more around my garage and porch.
I love to see yours of anyone else is growing them.

Welcome to the site! Beautiful hollyhocks. I love them too. I only had 1 dark pink bloom this year.

I had never heard of them so I just searched for the dolls. Pretty cool!

I just bought some hollyhock seeds last week. Next year I hope to see them bloom.
Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

If you have not grown hollyhocks before don't be disappointed when you don't get flowers next year
Hollyhocks are bi-annuals ...first year you only get leaves the second year they flower.

They are beautiful flowers and worth the wait Thumbs up

The hollyhock doll site which I saw used pins to secure them (or toothpicks). We just left a bit of the stem on & made a hole in the buds & inserted the stem.

I can wait. Any problem with me planting other stuff in the bed while I wait?

No problem when I have hollyhocks they are in a mixed border.
You can plant seeds two years in a row and have hollyhocks every year instead of every other year.
You can even have two different colors that won't cross pollinate if you are saving seeds.

If you planted right now I think you would get leaves before frost and possibly flowers next year . you have a longer fall than I do .
Do you know your average last frost date?

How do you deal with rust? Or do you not have that? When I gardened in Buffalo loved hollyhocks but here in South they get eaten up by orange fungus even when I spray with my usual fungus remedy, bonide copper. Anyone know of a remedy?

I don't know if it is rust or what, but before too long my hollyhock leaves are lace curtains! I love them except for this.
